Sounds of the South African Shelduck in the Karoo. An interesting species that build their nests in sand dunes, Aardvark burrows, or rough ground! The South African Shelduck is one of only two bird species that have the prefix 'South African' in the name, as they are endemic to our country and can't be found anywhere else!

Sneeuberg Rains

Keeping Our Birds Safer at Sneeuberg

The reflective bird flight divertors on our power lines light up at night to prevent birds, mainly Blue Crane and Vultures, from flying in to them. This helps us make our Reserve safer for these birds, an important part of the Karoo ecosystem.
