Reminder to those travelling through Europe: the new Entry-Exit System (EES) will soon be implemented - scheduled for 10 November 2024.

This isn't something you do in advance - it will be applied at borders, so you need to allow extra time for travel as it is likely to cause delays at first.

This does not mean you do not need a Visa to enter Schengen countries! You will still need a Visa. The EES is essentially an electronic way to travel entry and exit - like a passport stamp.
(We will miss those stamps in our passports - it's such a fun way to see where you've been!)

We were so excited when it looked like the liquid restrictions for flights were about to be relaxed but, alas, it is back to the 100ml maximum for now!

Remember the 3-1-1 rule of maximum liquids:
- no more then 3 ounces (100ml) of liquid per container,
- in 1 clear, quart-sized bag (about 17.8cm × 20.3cm), and only
- 1 bag per traveller

(Gels, pastes, oils, pastes, creams, lotions, foams, and, yes, even mascara and lip gloss count as liquids.)

Starting September 1, all EU airports will adhere to the 100ml liquid rule—even if they have the new luggage scanners.

It’s our 30th birthday!

We thank all the agents and clients for your support over the years. It is always an honour to book your best travel arrangements for you, and we look forward to many more years to come.

What a 30 years it’s been. When Anne Hill started British TIPS in 1994, with a dream of helping people visiting the UK to book their best journeys, the changes in the world and in travel itself were unimaginable, as well as the storms we would weather on our way. Last year, we sadly had to say goodbye to Anne but we know she would be delighted that her “baby” continues on – and will keep on going.

Looking back through our posts, in 2021 we said: “Travel WILL get going again and, before we know it, we’ll be sending clients to visit all the amazing, beautiful, fascinating, special places this world has to offer.”

We’re thrilled that we’re indeed still part of this amazing industry – and, as when we started 30 years ago, we are still “Big Enough to Cope, Small enough to Care”.

IMPORTANT NEWS: South Africans will no longer have visa-free entry to Ireland.

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said, "...nationals of Botswana and South Africa will be required to obtain a visa before travelling to Ireland. A transit visa will also be required, if intending to transit through Ireland en-route to another destination."

For those who have existing travel arrangements to/via Ireland which have been made before 10 July 2024 (Wednesday), transitional arrangements have made been for travel to Ireland up to 09 August 2024. Thereafter, new visa rules will apply. We'll keep you posted as we find out more. Please visit irishimmigration.ie for more information.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Anne Hill.

A well-travelled businesswoman, Anne started British TIPS in 1994 with the simple yet determined mission to provide a travel service for the many South Africans who had been yearning to visit the UK and Europe. Almost 30 years later, her “baby” is still going strong!

Beyond her professional accomplishments and love of travel, Anne was known for her great love of animals and delight in her 5 grandchildren.

As we bid farewell, we express our deepest condolences to her family and those whose lives she touched.
