Ludwich Ackermann Design Ludwich Ackermann Design is an architecture practice specialising but not limited to high end residential work.

We are a small practice currently doing work in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, South- Africa. We have a passion for simple honest spaces - Architecture that is clear in its intent without too much of a fuss. We are interested in the collaborative nature of the building process and enjoy the coming together of all disciplines to create Architecture

Although the standalone practice has only been active fo

r a short time we have more than ten years of collective experience in residential and commercial work. We have had long exposure to high end residential work and other commercial developments. As a focused small practice we offer the client the benefit of fresh ideas with an attention to detail and personal involvement that sometimes falters in large practice environments.

Here in sunny South Africa we don't really fathom the power of Hurricane storms. See the power and sheer force of the different categories of storms. (Keep in mind that the average house in Florida is not a masonry construction like in SA)

Not all contractors know what they are doing, it's always a good idea to employ an Architect for the full service including the construction phase of the project, you never know what you may be dealing with....hopefully not this guy!

For anyone living in the Dolomite areas in Gauteng, this is how a sinkhole works, water in, soil out and then....BOOM, support gone! There are Architectural solutions around this.

Like it or not, one always has to be honest with a potential client and say "I'm sorry but your budget is not on the same planet (but maybe not in the same solar system) as your dream"....sigh

My orthogonal inclanations would prefer it vertical but a really cool idea for 'living shade'.
