owned and operated by Rudolf Badenhorst of Pretoria South Africa. Rudolf's vision is to continue to build Madikela’s success by providing guests with a truly unforgettable experience. Madikela believes in keeping things small and personal and seeks to make a difference in both their clients’ lives as well as in the lives of people with whom they interact. Madikela offers its clients the opportunity to get actively involved in community projects, wildlife & nature conservation. The Garden was officially opened on 23 October 1958, but it could only be visited by special arrangement and was then opened to the public on a daily basis in 1984.

– What are the requirements to register as a tourist guide? A Provincial Registrar will register a tourist guides in a province when the guide meets the following criteria: 1. Proof of competence recognised by SAQA; 2. a valid first aid certificate; 3. a completed and signed application form accompanied by the prescribed fee; 4. a signed copy of the code of conduct and ethics for tourist guides; 5. By far the shortest hour I have ever spend in my life but the most rewarding one. From the time that you meet up with the silverback and his family we are allowed 60 minutes in their presence . The silverback payed us little attention but some of the teenage males had a go at us. Not serious but enough to make us keep our distance. I guess they like to see the tourists reaction when they mock charge. Awesome is too weak of a word to describe my experience
