Visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for FREE this coming Monday, 22 May, in honour of International Day of Biological Diversity.

South Africa boasts a rich biodiversity profile, with a range of unique flora and fauna. Our country is home to over 20,000 plant species, many of which are endemic. Additionally, South Africa is home to a diverse range of animals, including the iconic "Big Five" game animals. However, threats such as habitat loss and poaching put many of these species at risk.

Many organisations are making conservation efforts to protect South Africa's biodiversity for future generations. Let's all join in and do our part in protecting our environment this International Day of Biological Diversity 🌳🌷.

Meet our incredible mentor, Busi from Monwabisi, Cape Town. Busi is a senior coach at our Monwabisi site and she shared some insight into what surfing means to her

“Surfing as a black Makoti is rare. I think I am the first person who is pictured in her amaDaki (attire for a newlywed Xhosa bride) holding a surfboard and going for a surf. This has a lot of significance for me because I believe I am the first Xhosa Makoti who goes for a surf. I am the first, and this is important for representation”.

The mentors work hard everyday to ensure the participants have access to quality programmes and caring coaches. Thank you to the mentors for all they do!
