Cable Car is back in action!

Our cable cars will return to service on Wednesday, depending on weather conditions. All our commercial activities at the upper and lower stations will also be back in service. We thank you for your understanding while investigations into last week’s fire continues.

We can confirm that the flames and fire was contained to the garage and did not reach the machinery that operate the movement of the cable cars, and it is safe for us to resume service. If you were not able to make use of a ticket you had bought, please remember that there is a window period in which to use it. You can apply for a refund if you prefer. Our free birthday ticket offer will be extended into November – if your birthday was in October, you will have extra time to make use of your free return trip.

Remember the Cableway is closed for maintenance until 1 September when hiking up Table Mountain.

We are officially closed for annual maintenance until 1 September 2024.​

During this period:
•⁠ ⁠All outlets, eateries and ablution facilities at the Lower and Top Stations are closed.
•⁠ Hiking trails directly under the pathway of the cables are closed due to work taking place overhead. ​
•⁠ ⁠Tafelberg Road is closed to the public.

We thank you for your patience as we work to make Table Mountain Cableway a better and more enjoyable place for all guests.

Visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for FREE this coming Monday, 22 May, in honour of International Day of Biological Diversity.

South Africa boasts a rich biodiversity profile, with a range of unique flora and fauna. Our country is home to over 20,000 plant species, many of which are endemic. Additionally, South Africa is home to a diverse range of animals, including the iconic "Big Five" game animals. However, threats such as habitat loss and poaching put many of these species at risk.
