This weekend, our wildlife highlight reel is all about big cat mayhem! The Klaserie camps spotted a fat, full-bellied leopard on a warthog kill hiding out in the long grasses. This week's highlight that stole the show was the cat vs cat event at Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside. A leopard and cheetah had a bit of a stare down...and then the leopard began the chase. Watch the reel to find out more about the WEEK that WAS!

🐘 We set aside this day to celebrate the existence of elephants and their vital role in our ecosystem. At Chacma Bush Camp, elephants are in abundance and frequently visit the waterhole in front of camp, providing ample opportunity for guests to study and observe their behaviours.
❓❓Fun fact: Did you know that ellies are either left-tusked or right-tusked ❓❓

Watching Elephants from the Poolside at Chacma 🐘🐘🐘
There's nothing better than relaxing on a poolside sun lounger while watching elephants amble down to the waterhole in front of camp—all the more reason to visit Chacma. These in-camp wildlife sightings at Chacma Bush Camp frequently happen while guests relax between game drives. Because elephants are consistent in their movement patterns, they will regularly return to the perfect waterhole once they've discovered it. It so happens that Chacma's waterhole is a TOP CHOICE for ellies, buffalo, warthogs, birds and general game.

Nyala Safari Lodge took centre stage with their incredible sightings of a leopard in a tree, ellies and cheetah sighting.
At nThambo, there was a great sighting of hyena and cubs; and the elusive African wild dogs.
As per usual, Umkumbe delivered a fantastic leopard sighting, while Chacma enjoyed sightings of ellies and lions. That's a wrap for this week...AND what a week it was!

This is what to expect from a mokoro activity
Going on a mokoro should be top of the list when you embark on an Okavango Delta safari. While gliding through the channels by an expert poler, you're bound to see a wealth of wildlife congregating on the banks. The mokoro is a low-lying canoe-type vessel that's typically used as a mode of transport for locals. The experience is really immersive! Upon arrival at Boteti Tented Camp, you will be treated to a complimentary 2-hour mokoro activity that highlights what the area has to offer.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL LEOPARD DAY!
Today we take the time to celebrate these majestic rosette-patterned cats, so sleek and mysterious in their ways.
Today, we raise awareness about the challenges faced by these elusive cats, whose populations are declining. Leopards can be spotted across all our Kruger and Botswana camps, where they roam freely in their natural habitat.

Want to know if summer is on its way in the southern hemisphere? Look out for the arrival of the yellow-billed kite.
These raptors are the first to migrate to the Kruger during the summer - first in line gets all the prey!
Yellow-billed kits fly north towards central and east Africa when the last of the rains arrive, which is usually at the end of March. These graceful birds of prey are found in diverse habitats, ranging from wetlands to savannah and woodlands.
Protective and powerful, this kite was spotted at the waterhole in front of Chacma Bush Camp.
A great sighting for ALL birders out there!

Did you miss us? We usually launch our wildlife reel on Fridays, but we thought we'd liven up your Sunday instead!
From stealthy chameleons to tawny eagles tackling boomslangs and leopards devouring kills, we've had a week of HUNGRY wildlife.
And for cuteness factor, we've added a clip of two young elephants just strolling through the wild.

Can you imagine seeing this unfold before your eyes?
A rather dominant hippo splashes around in the dam, displaying one of many behaviours synonymous with these semi-aquatic beasts. 🦛
This just shows you how incredibly powerful hippos are! The thrashing around technique is used to attract a mate or ward off potential intruders, and is often witnessed when a territorial hippo wants to showcase its power.

WOW! Guest Alex Freire sent through this amazing clip of elephants congregating around the splash pool in front of camp. He was only a few metres away from these jostling giants - what a moment, what a sighting. The ellie herds are regulars at nThambo, and frequently huddle around the small pool to soak up the water.
