Has Ancient Egypt always fascinated you? Well, it is time to scratch that itch.

Things are changing, slowly but surely, the ceasefire is holding in Gaza. For those who have been understandably dubious about travelling to the Middle East, let me assure you that Egypt is completely safe and unaffected by the situation happening next door (over 1000km from Luxor). So safe that over 15 million tourists enjoyed Egypt in 2024.

Most of the Grand Egyptian Museum is now open. Various press reports have stated that July 3rd will be the official opening which will no doubt see big parades and celebrations. I have heard unofficially that the remaining Tutankhamun artefacts still in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir are scheduled to relocate to the GEM in late June.

By October any teething issues should be sorted out and all the VIP visits will be out of the way, so will be perfect for us to visit.

I know this is not Ancient Egypt related but is important enough to all of us with an interest in Egypt. Hopefully this is a lasting agreement and will go some way to allaying peoples concerns about travelling to this magnificent part of the world.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi welcomed reaching the ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip after ‘hard efforts over more than a year, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.’
