Sardines netted on Durban beachfront today.

22/07/2015

It's not over until it's over. The sardines popes in on the Durban beachfront yesterday. Water was very clean and no visible activity with them but great netting activity and great fun watching the netting activity.

15/07/2015

It appears that there are no more pulses of sardines to come and it will be up to the other bait fish species to entertain the punters on the Transkei coast.

09/07/2015

Sardines netted at Bazely this afternoon and very quiet on the Transkei coast.

07/07/2015

Quiet up and down the coast for the last week save for a small pocket of Sardines at Isipingo two days ago. Hopefully the current weather pattern delivers another pulse of activity.

28/06/2015

Good baitball activity between Mboyti and PSJ today.

27/06/2015

Netted sardines a Scottburgh earlier today.

24/06/2015

Sardines netted at Rocky Bay today.

23/06/2015

Excellent sardine action in the Kidds Beach area today and very clean water.

22/06/2015

Good sardine action south of East London in clear water today. A good day on the coast.

22/06/2015

Netting of Sardines as high up as Ballito and down to Rocky Bay.

21/06/2015

Good day of Sardine netting on the KZN coast from Durban to Umkomaas. Sporadic activity on the Transkei coast.

21/06/2015

Good day on the coast with good sardine action south of East London and also the netting north of Durban.

20/06/2015

Sardines netted just north of Durban today.

18/06/2015

Activity south of East London and just north but very dirty water. Reports of mainly redeye from Mboyti. Hopefully the passing front has some effect.

15/06/2015

Little news of Sardines but other bait fish present on the coast. Hopefully more to come before or after the next cold front.

12/06/2015

Sardines all along KZN South coast! !!

10/06/2015

Sardine netting on the KZN South coast and big shoals of Sardines further offshore making for exciting times on KZN shores

10/06/2015

Good baitball off St. Croix yesterday and the chance of more sardines moving from the upper Transkei onto the KZN coast according to reports of activity in the area around Mkambati

04/06/2015

Disappointing that Sharks Board missed the call despite spending tax payers money on joy rides in their plane and 11 sharks killed in the Shelly Beach net and drum line installation.

04/06/2015

Sardine netting being reported from Ramsgate, Margate and Pumula. Pilot activity moving fast

29/05/2015

Good baitball action between Gulu and Kaysers again today. Still staying in the same area. Let's see what the storm does in the next few days to show whether there is any other action on the coast. PE is quiet and north of East London the same.

28/05/2015

Small pockets of activity from Kidds Beach to Hamburg. The water warmed up at East London and activity seems to have retreated West. Visibility is also poor.

25/05/2015

Two big bait balls at Cove Rock, East London. Hoping the fish keep moving and don't turn back!

09/05/2015

R180 per box of Sardines. Scarcity pushing the price up - doesn't bode well for a Run this year!

07/07/2014

Sardine activity between Nahoon and Cintsa but it appears that the entire Eastern Cape coast has shed the awesome visibility of a week ago. Moderate westerly winds for the next few days may sort this out.

04/07/2014

The only reports of sardine action are coming from the East London area. A baitball lasting an hour and ten minutes between Nahoon and Gonubie in 20m visibility. The coast from there to KZN deathly quiet.

01/07/2014

Big winds in East London today but last few days have delivered good baitball action between Cove Rock and Kidds Beach with one ball lasting nearly 6 hours in good visibility. Another report of Sardines 15km off Ramsgate and the boat anglers who reported it said that the tuna they caught had fresh sardines in the gut.

21/06/2014

Hopefully the big winds of this past week will chase up some Sardines from the south for those searching north of East London. For now it appears to be the other bait fish species that also occur along the coast at this time of year keeping the predator interest levels up on the Transkei coast.
