Some of the Rock Art we have seen on a recent trip. Unfortunatly some are deteriorating quickly due to vandals writing all over.
Remember that Rock Art is protected by Law and any rock art site can only be visited while being accompanied by a Rock Art Custodian.

The Giants Cup

The Giants Cup is one of the iconic hiking trails in the Drakensberg that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Join me for this 5 day hiking trip meandering through the foothills of the mighty Drakensberg from the 17th to 22nd October 2024.

I’ve been running school leadership camps for the past 28 years and I’ve been running Journey style camps for the past 12 years.
I want to share an observation I’ve made.
In the last 7 years ,when students have to put up their own tents.
Every girl tent is up before the first boy tent is up.
When it comes to building fires ,the girls collect more fire wood and prep better than the boys as well as have their fires going before the boys get their fires going.
In winter ,during the bridge build activity ,someone always has to get in the freezing cold water to secure the final pole for the activity to be completed.
Lately it’s always been a girl that has the courage to jump in first and tie the last knot.
I also teach MMA and I’ve noticed lately that when I get a student aged 16-21 .
The majority of girls already know how to throw a punch ,cause ether their dad taught them or they attended a self defence session when they were younger, but the boys don’t know how to throw a basic punch ,cause no one has ever taught them before.
I’m a father of 2 daughters,aged 6 and 10
I’ve already started to teach them how to punch, camp and fish.
I get the feeling that parents of boys seem reluctant to teach their sons or they think that their sons should automatically know these things,as if it should be instinctive.
As parents, we know that life is difficult and we need to prep our kids as best we can.
However They can only learn ,what they have been taught.
