Variety is the keynote of South African holidays. The country boasts one of the continent’s finest safari destinations in the form of Kruger National Park and nearby private reserves, while other key Big Five safari reserves include Hluhluwe-iMfolozi and malaria-free Madikwe and Pilanesberg.

If a safari will be the main event of your South African tour, most of the country’s key parks and reserves are at their best in the southern hemisphere winter months of May to September, when daytime temperatures are cooler, the bush is less dense allowing for better visibility, and wildlife tends to gather around limited water sources.

Imagine being transferred by your own guide via Boat on the Kwando River from the parking to the Nambwa Lodge, where we will be spending the night. The Cuando River in south-central Africa flowing through Angola and Namibia's Caprivi Strip and into the Linyanti Swamp on the northern border of Botswana.

Octopus Vulgaris (Common Octopus). These beautiful and yet facinating creatures are extremely intelligent and also the most studied among all the species. The common octopus hunts at dusk. Crabs, crayfish, and bivalve molluscs (two-shelled, such as cockles) are preferred, although the octopus eats almost anything it can catch. It is able to change colour to blend in with its surroundings, and is able to jump upon any unwary prey that strays across its path. Using its beak, it is able to break into the shells of shelled molluscs. They grow up to 25cm in mantle length with their arms up to 1m in length, weighing up to 9kg Sadly they only live 1 - 2 years
