Yanga recently joined the Gauteng Speed Marketing Fam Trip 2025 and had this to say, ‘While immersing in the history of Soweto, overwhelming emotions arose—not just from my travel group, which consisted of South Africans from various tribes and races, reflecting our rainbow nation. I also saw Mrs. Antonette Sithole, the sister of Hector Pieterson, the 12-year-old boy who was shot and killed in 1976. In that moment, I realized that while we were only experiencing the emotions through stories, she and her peers had lived through those traumatic events very young as schoolchildren. It was humbling to be in the same space, and meet someone who lived it. This experience added a deeper, personal layer to their history.

I know there are a lot of stories like this one from our parents, grandparents and people from different communities across South Africa. I wish we could listen more because we will learn and remember that empathy, unity and love for Africa are the cornerstone of our existence. To have full emancipation we need to remove self from self and remember We (present) Us (Unity) Them (the children are the future) just like they kept doing for us.’
