Yesterday afternoon the dogs came for a visit. They wanted to cross the gully in front of the camp, but very cautious. Can't blame them as there is a lot of crocodiles around.
Just a warning to sensitive viewer, this might upset you. Thank you to Andre Van Vuuren for sharing this with us. Andre brings groups through to the Luangwa Valley and stays with us. The video was taken on a game drive with us.
Early this morning the pack of Wild Dogs came to visit the waterhole in front of camp. They stayed around for quite some time. Thank you Yolanda Blacquiere for the video taken from the Hippo Hide.
Early this morning I had guests for breakfast. !!
Lots of Elephants around camp today. This video was taken 30 minutes ago in front of the camp.
We are blessed to have so many animals in and around camp. Today I want to share some photos of the Giraffe. The ones we find here are the Thornicroft Giraffe which is a sub species only found in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia. I took the video yesterday afternoon of 13 that walked right past the reception and down the road to the campsite. Apologies for the quality.
Lately we are having a lot of Elephant visits in and around Camp. One of the reasons are that there is quite a number of fruiting trees in camp. The ones that are fruiting at this time of the year is Tamarind and Jackalberry. One has to be careful as they are still wild animals. Come visit us and enjoy this wonderful time of the year.
Lovely video taken by Andrea Breytenbach on one of our drives.
And there was a boom gate
Wildlife Camp Update
Dear friends & visitors of Wildlife Camp Zambia.
I would like to bring under your attention the following.
As you all well know the tourism sector is currently one of the hardest-hit by the outbreak of COVID-19, with impacts on both travel supply and demand. This represents an added downside risk in the context of a weaker world economy, geopolitical, social and trade tensions, as well as uneven performance among major outbound travel markets.
Considering the evolving nature of the situation, it is too early to estimate the full impact of the COVID-19 on international tourism.
Wildlife camp is not excluded from this and I would like to take the time and make a proposal.
We have completely closed our camp and have erected a boom gate to limit unnecessary movement in and out of camp.
We have reduced our staff to only the bare essential and we rotate them every 14 days to give everyone a chance to have at least a little income to take care of their families. Some of them are working out of position so at least they are working.
After the floods since 1 January the levels only really started to drop around mid-March, meaning we had plenty of cancelations during this time as well.
We therefore came up with a plan!
Book your stay now for 2021 at 2020 rates with a 15% deposit and balance of that 2020 rate to be payable 30 days before arrival and help safe the tourism industry and Wildlife Camp.
Please contact us at [email protected] for any enquiries.
