3 minutes from Stone's Throw Cottages is Hillside Dams. We are so quick to travel far and wide yet on our doorstep is a gem of a place. The aloes🌵 are in full bloom at the moment. And although the dams are sadly empty due to the poor rainy season it still has some amazing walks to enjoy. So grab a friend, pack a picnic basket and enjoy the outdoors.

Thinking about visiting Bulawayo....we have Motopos National Park on our doorstep. Only 30 min drive from Bulawayo and for the intrepid traveller who loves to do something different there is Inanke Cave which is a 6km tough hike to the best preserved bushman paintings in Southern Africa. And the views 🤩. Not many people go there as it is only for the adventurous 🙃.

This weekend we decided to find it for ourselves. We spent the night camping 🏕at Togwana dam and the next morning armed with backpacks loaded with snacks🍫, coffee☕️and breakfast we began our hike 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️. The trail is well marked although at times the GPS was needed to put us back on track. The bush was thick at times and rugged. We had the unexpected surprise of coming across thousands of Redwinged Starlings nesting. The sound was intense. Once through the valley we hit the hills and the climb was quite steep but spectacular scenery. 2 and half hours later we finally found the cave hidden until we approached it. The bushman paintings were incredible. We enjoyed a cup of coffee and breakfast while discussing the lives of the bushman and our next adventure 😀. Another 2 hours later we were back where we started. Definately a trip worth taking 👌. Bring your friends along to make it extra special.

For those with less time there are a few caves easier to get to but still worth seeing such as Silizwane and Inswatugi. And while you at it book a walk with the national parks to see a white rhino

We know that you will enjoy plenty of places to sit and relax. The kids will love ❤️ the swimming pool with a shallow beach ⛱️ entrance. And a perfect place to braai and enjoy the sunshine and time with friends

Finchden offers 3 bedrooms, 2 with ensuite bathrooms and a 3rd guest bathroom. Each room has its own distinct character offering a spacious area to relax. We love 😍 the wall paper in Acacia Suite giving a distinctive feel of being on holiday somewhere exotic. Baobab suite has a rustic yet luxurious feel. The original floorboards were repurposed as wall cladding. Teak Suite has the distinctive feel of yesteryear. We know that you will enjoy your stay whether for business, function or just enjoying our beautiful City of Kings
