For most animals, there are three basic ways they can die: disease, injury, or old age, which is also called senescence. But a select few species are seemingly immune from aging itself, a phenomenon known as negligible senescence.

The gradual accumulation of cellular damage and degradation that will eventually kill other animals (including us) slows to a virtual standstill, prolonging the life - and, in fact, the youth - of any animal lucky enough to be negligibly senescent. This also means of course that tortoises can continue to reproduce at very old ages.

Tortoises are the most famous negligibly senescent animals; managed to get a snap of this beautiful leopard tortoise in the Middle Zambezi Valley, Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe.

Named after a local Nhanzwa chief, Hwange National Park is the largest park in Zimbabwe. I've had the privilege to walk and drive through patches of this untamed wilderness area. These are some of the rare moments I managed to capture during my last time there.

If there's one thing I've learnt during this whole storm it's the difference between what I want and what I actually need. As a 26 year old who's still breaking boundaries ; travelling is now way up on my itinerary. No words can describe that awkward first handshake with strangers who'll turn out to be close friends in the long run. That look of enlightenment when one starts to look at life from a different perspective.

The next big thing for me is obviously going to be a nature exploration trip, venturing to a landscape I've not yet experienced. I feel as if each person needs some time to unwind and disconnect from the fast paced concrete savanna. A spiritual journey of discovery.

The transition from city life to that of spending time around majestic creatures enveloped by scenic beauty has been quite an awakening and adventure filled path ! With everything nowadays being classified as essential and what not I'd like to leave you with one essential tip if you're to venture out into the great outdoors.

Invest in a good pair of polarized sunglasses. Basically polarized sunglasses have a special filter lens that blocks the intensity of the African bushveld sun reducing glare and discomfort.
