A great morning with Through the Eyes of an Elephant . Starting your day with an elephant interaction with Through the Eyes of an Elephant is a brilliant way to ensure the best day. What a privilege to meet Doma up close and to learn more about my most favourite animal ❤ Definitely one for your Vic Falls bucket list!

Great advice!

Travelling to faraway places can be a little daunting. Zimbabwean people are known for their friendliness so hopefully the moment you arrive, all that worry will disappear.
To make the build up a little easier, here are some travel tips to guide you along the way.
- it is advisable to bring some US$ cash with you to Zimbabwe, and make sure you have some smaller denomination notes ( $1s and $5s). Bring more of these than you think you will need, because they go fast. And if you have any leftover, most places you stay will gladly swap them out for bigger notes.
- Always make sure you have sunblock and a good hat....at all times of the year. Our winter sun might not seem quite as hot, but it is very much there.
- Bring your favourite mosquito repellent. Sometimes there are none to be seen, and others times they are all around. better safe than sorry.
- Check that you have the correct adapter for your devices ( we have universal plugs at Pioneers, but you might need step up or down adapters).
- Check your visa requirements before travelling and get the correct ones for your needs. If you are planning on crossing into Zambia, and into Bots ( for a day trip) ask for a KAZA visa on arrival ( if you are legible for one), as this makes crossing borders a whole lot easier. Otherwise make sure you get a double-entry if have plans to do something in one of our neighbouring countries before returning to Zim.
- Make sure your bring a sense of adventure with you.....This might be the most important tip.

We are happy to answer any questions you might have prior to travelling, so please feel free to message us.

As a community we all mourn with Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit . Clever was a true conservationist and he will be missed. Thank you for all you have done for wildlife in Zimbabwe.

Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit
Press Statement on the tragic death of VFAPU Operations Co-ordinator Clever Kapandura
On Friday 8th October, following a report of a possible poaching incident with GPS
coordinates of a carcass, VFAPU deployed a team of anti-poaching scouts to investigate the
scene. Clever Kapandura, as the operations co-ordinator for the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching
Unit, and being the passionate and committed leader he was, decided to go out and join the
team on the ground to investigate the scene. Whilst following the GPS Coordinates, the
team noticed an Elephant Bull a substantial distance away. For some unknown reason, the
Elephant Bull charged from approximately 120 meters, and the team of three scouts had to
split up. Despite following all the prescribed evasive action in an elephant charge situation,
the animal continued its charge and sadly intercepted Clever. His fellow scouts managed to
scare the elephant off and called for support, but by the time the ambulance arrived Clever
had succumbed to his injuries sustained in the tragic incident.
Clever Kapandura joined Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit from its inception in 1999 when
the unit was formed. His experience and commitment to the tourism and conservation
sector has spanned over 32 years, having been part of the original Wilderness Safaris team
when the company first began in 1990 before moving across to dedicate his life to wildlife
conservation. Clever was a kind, dedicated, passionate and well respected member of the
Victoria Falls community, and the wider tourism community within Zimbabwe, and is
considered by so many as one of the regions conservation heroes.
We are deeply saddened by this tragic and senseless loss of our friend and colleague. Clever
leaves behind a family, and we at Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit would like to extend our
heartfelt and sincere condolences to the entire Kapandura family, and to all who knew
Clever, had the pleasure of working with him, and loved him.
In due course, as a tribute to Clever, we will be releasing details of a fundraiser for those
who wish to assist his wife and his children which he leaves behind.
Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit would like to kindly request for the Media to respectfully
refrain from any further attempts to contact the Kapandura Family or Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit and their team of scouts as they grieve and come to terms with the loss of
their family member, colleague and friend.

Hwange National Park is certainly lion country! We visited this past weekend and were rewarded with multiple lion sightings. We found this enormous male lion, known as Scarface, who is blind in one eye. We came across 2 females with their 2 cubs, who looked to have been chased off their food, judging by the full tummies and bloody jaws.
