Shah Rukh Khan to perform at Global Village on Sunday

Dubai: Shah Rukh Khan will perform at the city’s main entertainment hub, Global Village, on Sunday night. The Bollywood star’s performance is scheduled to coincide with India’s Republic Day. The star will arrive at the venue at 8.30 pm. Shah Rukh Khan will interact with the audience and perform dance moves. The star is also the brand ambassador of Dubai Tourism. Many prominent stars have already visited the venue for the 29th season of Global Village, which started in October.

Private sector firms to be caught: UAE tightens crackdown on violations

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has said it will take strict action against violations in private sector firms in the UAE. The warning comes in the wake of 29,000 violations found in inspections of 6.88 lakh companies in 2024. Of these, 12,509 firms violated labor, health and safety standards. Action was also taken against 20 firms for recruiting without a license.

The main violations include charging fees for labor recruitment, recruiting without a license, closing companies without resolving employee issues, not implementing the Wage Security Scheme (WPS) introduced to pay salaries correctly, and submitting false information.

The ministry also stated that inspections will be intensified using innovative systems to ensure that private firms comply with the law. Both announced and unannounced spot checks will be conducted. He said that inspectors should not create obstacles while performing their duties responsibly and transparently, respecting the law and company confidentiality. He also indicated that inspectors should enter the establishment only after showing their identity card.

In 2024, 2.8 million workers were provided with guidance from 330 centers across the UAE. Workers were also educated about labor laws, rights, and responsibilities. Services such as processing work permits and contracts, facilitating administrative procedures, and ensuring the well-being of workers and employers are also provided.

*Salik rate change from January 31*

Dubai: The company officials announced on Friday that the rate change of Salik, the road toll system in the emirate, will be effective from January 31.
The main change is that the Salik rate will increase to six dirhams during peak hours. Four dirhams are charged at all 10 toll gates at all times. Meanwhile, the toll fee will be free every day after midnight, from 1 am to 6 am.
On weekdays, the toll gate will be charged six dirhams during peak hours, from 6 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 8 pm.
During off-peak hours, the current rate of four dirhams will be sufficient. The Salik rate will be four dirhams on Sundays that are not public holidays.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has issued new criteria for possessing weapons without a license. The Ministry of Interior has announced that citizens who possess weapons without a license must register within three months. They can register without charging a fee until April 13.
The measure is part of protecting citizens from the legal consequences of possessing weapons without a license. This was announced by Mohammed Suhail Asal Neyadi, Acting Director-General of the Directorate of Arms and Explosives at the Ministry of Interior, and Brigadier Abdulrahman Ali Al Mansouri, Acting Director of the Directorate of Weapons and Explosives. The new criteria are part of raising awareness among the public about the dangers of illegally possessing weapons and ammunition and obtaining a license in accordance with the country’s laws. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has clarified that they are allowed to bring them to the country on visas with a validity of 30, 60 and 90 days. Applications for this can be submitted through the ICP website and smart app. However, the ICP warned that fines will be imposed on those who do not leave the country after the visa expires.

You can choose between a single entry visa with a validity of one to three months and a multiple entry visa that allows you to travel to the UAE more than once. Once you receive the visa, you only need to enter the UAE within 60 days.

After logging in to the ICP website or mobile app using your digital ID (UAE Pass), click on the visa option and select single entry or multiple entry. Then, select the desired duration under the option called Visit a Relative or Friend, enter your personal information and pay the fee, and you will receive the visa digitally in real time. You should apply only after ensuring that the person’s name and address are entered correctly.

The applicant must have a passport with a validity of 6 months, a return ticket, and health insurance. The visa holder must be a friend or relative of a UAE citizen or UAE visa holder.

Only foreigners working in one or two categories prescribed by the ICP can issue visas to relatives and friends under their own sponsorship. One is those working in positions that require a basic qualification of a degree. The authorities stated that the new visa facility has been introduced to increase happiness and peace through the gathering of relatives and friends.

ഒന്നു മുതല്‍ 3 മാസം വരെ കാലാവധിയുള്ള സിംഗിള്‍ എന്‍ട്രി, ഒന്നിലേറെ തവണ യുഎഇയിലേക്ക് യാത്ര ചെയ്യാവുന്ന മള്‍ട്ടിപ്പിള്‍ എന്‍ട്രി വിസ എന്നിവയില്‍ ഒന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം. വിസ ലഭിച്ചാല്‍ 60 ദിവസത്തിനകം യുഎഇയില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ചാല്‍ മതിയാകും.

ഐസിപി വെബ്‌സൈറ്റിലോ മൊബൈല്‍ ആപ്പിലോ ഡിജിറ്റല്‍ ഐഡി (യുഎഇ പാസ്) ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ലോഗിന്‍ ചെയ്ത ശേഷം വിസ ഓപ്ഷനില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്തശേഷം സിംഗിള്‍ എന്‍ട്രിയോ മള്‍ട്ടിപ്പിള്‍ എന്‍ട്രിയോ സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യണം. പിന്നീട് വിസിറ്റ് എ റിലേറ്റീവ് ഓര്‍ ഫ്രണ്ട് എന്ന ഓപ്ഷനില്‍ ആവശ്യമുള്ള കാലാവധിയനുസരിച്ച് സെലക്ട് ചെയ്തത് വ്യക്തിഗത വിവരങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കി ഫീസടച്ചാല്‍ തത്സമയം ഡിജിറ്റലായി തന്നെ വിസ ലഭിക്കും. വ്യക്തിയുടെ പേരും വിലാസവും തെറ്റുകൂടാതെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്ന് ഉറപ്പാക്കിയ ശേഷമേ അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കാവൂ.

അപേക്ഷക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിക്ക് 6 മാസ കാലാവധിയുള്ള പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ട്, മടക്കയാത്രാ ടിക്കറ്റ്, ആരോഗ്യ ഇന്‍ഷുറന്‍സ് എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കണം. വിസ ഉടമ യുഎഇ പൗരന്റെയോ യുഎഇ വിസക്കാരന്റെയോ സുഹൃത്തോ ബന്ധുവോ ആയിരിക്കണെമന്ന നിബന്ധനയുണ്ട്.

ഐസിപി നിര്‍ദേശിക്കുന്ന ഒന്ന്, രണ്ട് വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന വിദേശികള്‍ക്കു മാത്രമേ സ്വന്തം സ്‌പോണ്‍സര്‍ഷിപ്പില്‍ ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ക്കും സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ക്കും വിസ നല്‍കാനാവൂ. ബിരുദം അടിസ്ഥാന യോഗ്യത ആവശ്യമുള്ള തസ്തികയില്‍ തൊഴില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നവരെയാണ് ഒന്ന്. ബന്ധുക്കളുടെയും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുടെയും സമാഗമത്തിലൂടെ സന്തോഷവും സമാധാനവും വര്‍ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനാണ് പുതിയ വിസ സൗകര്യം ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയതെന്ന അധികൃതര്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

*Air India Express increases baggage allowance to Gulf*

*Dubai:* Here is good news for expatriates traveling to the Gulf. Air India Express has increased the baggage limit to the Gulf. Now, you can travel from home to the Gulf with 30 kg of baggage. The decision came into effect from Wednesday.

Earlier, the baggage limit was 20 kg. The increase in the baggage limit will be a relief for expatriates. The new baggage benefit will be available to those who book tickets after January 15. Earlier, 30 kg of baggage was allowed to those traveling from the Gulf to the country. Meanwhile, only 20 kg of baggage allowance was allowed to those traveling from home to the Gulf.

Meanwhile, Air India Express has clarified that as per the new decision, 30 kg of baggage will be allowed for those going from the country to Gulf countries. The baggage can be carried in two boxes or bags. No more bags are allowed in the check-in baggage. Meanwhile, the new change is not applicable to those booking tickets in the Express Biz category.
