Dubai's Global Village has extended its opening hours as it prepares to close its gates soon.

For its last three days, the popular festival park will be open from 4pm to 2am

Dubai Metro announced the extension of operating hours on Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2, ahead of expected weather conditions in the UAE.

Timings will be extended from 12am to 5am (next day).

Trains will depart from centrepoint Metro Station and will only stop at the following stations: Emirates Metro Station, Airport Terminal 1 Station, Airport Terminal 3 Station, and GGICO Station.

Commuters have been advised to ensure their nol cards have a minimum balance of Dh15 before departing.

The authority has provided taxis at centrepoint and GGICO stations to easily transport travellers to their destinations after they disembark from the metro.

The designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport were approved by the Dubai Ruler on Sunday. Within ten years, all operations of Dubai International Airport will be gradually transferred to the new airport.

The airport will feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways within a total area of 70 square kilometres.

Al Maktoum International Airport will be the largest in the world with a final capacity of up to 260 million passengers.

After completion, it will be five times the current Dubai International Airport (DXB). The new airport will also use technologies never used in the aviation sector.
