Funny enough, it wasn’t actually born in France—it started in Austria as the kipferl, a crescent-shaped bread. When it made its way to France, bakers took it to the next level, adding layers of butter into the dough to create that flakiness we all know and love. The result? Pure magic.

When you bite into a croissant, it’s all about contrasts. The outside is golden and crisp, while the inside is soft and buttery. It’s so satisfying that it’s hard not to just take another bite right away. And if you’re having it with a cup of coffee? Even better. There’s just something about the way a flaky croissant goes with a strong espresso or a creamy latte. The coffee cuts through the richness, and the croissant softens the edge of the coffee—it’s like they’re made for each other.

Croissants aren’t just for mornings either. A plain one is always a classic, but almond croissants are a sweet treat, and pain au chocolat feels like dessert disguised as breakfast. Sitting down with a warm croissant and a cup of coffee, whether at a cozy café or your own kitchen table, makes any day feel a little more special. Simple, but so, so good
