I am posting a list of my 10 most favourite luxurious hotels in Switzerland. Have you stayed in any of them? Check and let us know your feedback in the comment section.

All are amazing properties for both winter and summer vacations, couples or families or friends; most of them welcomed the famous and the rich in the distant and recent past. They are distributed over different areas of Switzerland: Andermatt, St Moritz, Crans-Montana, Zurich, Lucerne, Bag Ragaz, etc.

The UAE is no longer on the list of the high-risk Covid-19 countries, so once the lockdown measures are eased down in Switzerland, only a negative PCR test is required for UAE nationals and citizens (depending on the visa status of the latter group) without a need for a quarantine yayyy! For now, lockdown deadline is end of February.

Tags for all hotels pages are listed below should you wish to know more about them:
1. Hotel Villa Honegg
2. The Chedi Andermatt
3. The Alpina Gstaad
4. The Dolder Grand
5. Giardino Mountain
6. BAUR AU LAC
7. Gstaad Palace
8. Ultima Gstaad
9. Grand Resort Bad Ragaz
10. Guarda Golf Hotel & Residences - Crans Montana

There is no particular order followed while making up the list.

While travel is still in suspension but with vaccines giving hope for future travel (and for hmmm travel counsellors who have been unemployed for far too long), I am putting forward some suggestions for you to consider or dream of for when lockdowns are over.

My first suggestion is Morocco:

- Expected lockdown to be over by March 10.
- Best weather is during March, April and May.
- UAE nationals and residents (based on respective visa requirements for the latter) can travel to Morocco provided they have both a COVID-19 PCR test and a serological/antibody test before they fly. The PCR test must be carried out a maximum of 48 hours before the flight departure time at any government accredited medical facility. Only people with negative results will be permitted to travel.
- Upon arrival at the port or airport, there will be a health screening. The Moroccan government does not require travellers to self-isolate or undergo a quarantine period after they arrive in the country.
- Guests must complete a passenger health form before departure and present a printed copy of the form upon arrival. Guests need to print their test results and keep them throughout their trip for check ins at different locations.

Morocco whose culture is built on a fusion of Berber, Arabian and European influences, has a lot to offer. From the madness of medinas (Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca, etc.) and their contrasting relaxing riads to hiking or exploring in a 4x4 the magnificent Atlas mountains and the Berber communities, the peaceful Sahara desert, Essaouira or Agadir and the Atlantic ocean, incredibly beautiful crumbling kasbahs, etc., options are endless. I have 7 tour operators to check with for competitive packages covering it all from:
- Group tours
- Women’s groups
- Family trips
- Solo trips
- Surfing (and yoga) packages
- Hiking trails
- Golf packages
- Food tours
- And of course the tailor made trips I usually put together for you

Should you be interested in this magnificent country and the various experiences it can offer you in one trip, please let me know.

If you ever want to include stargazing into your travels, Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful places on earth known for such an activity.

The Memories Aicha Luxury Camp is my pick for you in the wadi for a glamping experience. Yes finally double beds in camps and windows a bit bigger than the usual.

Have a look at the photos and please be aware that for such an experience, you'd be disconnected from the world for a day or 2 (length of your stay) as wifi is available only at a walking distance for emergencies.

Among many desert activities available (especially during the day), you can opt for a walking stargazing tour. That would be a plus to the star watching from your balcony or your bed if you are in a panoramic luxury tent.

I have been looking for a great hotel to suggest to you in Norway and I think I found 'the one': The Storfjord Hotel.

I believe everyone needs to stay in such a hotel at least once in their lives. Look at the photos and let me know what you think.

It has only 30 rooms! Only 30! Booking needs to be made much in advance.

The facts:

- Storfjord Hotel is a secluded small luxury timber hotel in Norway. It is ideally located for fjord touring near the famous UNESCO site Geirangerfjord and its view point (1h 40m perfect for a day trip). Close to Alesund airport (around 45 mins).

- It is on a hillside overlooking the Storfjord (closer for activities) and Sunnmore Alps and with that, offers stunning views. Coffee with magnificent views anyone?

- The atmosphere is unique with beautiful Norwegian style rooms that have balconies. Can it get any cosier and more relaxing?

- Scent of timber.

- Designer furniture.

- Heated floors throughout.

- Activities: hiking, boat trip, sightseeing by car, kayaking, wildlife safari, visit to a local food farm, fishing trip, helicopter sightseeing, Alesund discovery (30 mins away), culture and shopping trip to Devoldfabrikken (30 mins away), skiing, horse riding, snowshoeing.

Let me know if you're interested.

Travel Inspiration: Norway.

There are endless reasons to visit Norway: beautiful cities, picturesque villages, deep and stunning fjords, majestic cliffs and mountains, road trips along varied marvellous landscapes, unforgettable nature experiences. Squawking seabird colonies anyone?

This country is not only about the Northern lights. It is much richer in sights and experiences to offer.

I have itineraries that can go from 5 days to 3 weeks and more depending on how many of the spectacular places of Norway you wish to cover.

Below is a summary of only few (I could fit in here) of the places you can see:

- The Fjords constitute the most stunning and striking landscapes of Norway where seals and eagles reign, whales and fish patrol. For nature lovers, hiking, kayaking between these giants cliffs for another perspective, fishing, rafting, cycling, cruising, etc. are all options one might pick from.

- Lofoten is known for excellent fishing, nature attractions such as the northern lights and the midnight sun, and small villages off the beaten track. You can kayak between the islands, go fishing for the catch of your life, or look for sea eagles soaring in the sky, hiking, skiing, ocean rafting, scuba diving, surfing even.

- Bergen, otherwise called ‘the heart of the fjords’, has the vibe of a small town, packed with charm and urban character with houses clinging to the hillsides, narrow cobblestone alleys and world-famous attractions.

- Flam, a small village surrounded by steep mountains, thundering waterfalls and narrow valleys, one where each year, several hundred thousand visitors arrive in to ride with the Flåmsbana Railway, voted the world's most incredible train journey, zipline in the valley, cycle Rallarvegen, or go hiking in the dramatic landscape surrounding the tiny village.

Part of the travel inspirations I am sharing with you during the social distancing period, I will be posting about some of the most beautiful hotels in the world, hotels which are considered 'destinations' on their own.

As I was in the theme of India in my previous post, I thought I'd tell you about the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur.

It is situated in the middle of Lake Pichola and built in 1746 and features majestic architecture with breathtaking views of the City Palace, Aravalli and Machla Magra hills, and Jag Mandir.

It offers a full service spa at Jiva Spa and site-specific yoga sessions.

It also boasts rooms with beautifully carved wooden furniture and luxurious silk fabrics, offering garden or lake views. Rooms come with butler service. Have a look at the different designs in the photos 😍😍😍.

For a truly local experience, the hotel offers guided heritage walks to know all details about the palace/hotel, astrology sessions and cultural shows.

If you want to be a Maharaja for a couple of days, the Taj Lake Palace makes such a dream come true 😊

Inspiration: India.

Whether you wish to go as part of a group (even if solo) or on a private tour, India has plenty of options for itineraries that could fill and enrich your days. Whether for 4 days or for 2 weeks and more, for a historical trip, a foodie adventure, wild life exploration, a wellness retreat, etc., for a stay in a heritage or palace hotel or in a tent, for traveling in local trains or the Maharaja Express, choices are plenty.

For example, I can arrange for a colourful journey through the remarkable Rajasthan whereby you can explore the legendary Golden Triangle of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, before going in search of tigers in Ranthambore, visiting holy Pushkar, the Blue city of Jodphur and the beautiful town of Udaipur.

Agra – you can marvel at Agra Fort and enjoy a guided tour of the iconic Taj Mahal, India’s most famous site.

Delhi – you can tour highlights of India's capital including Jama Masjid and ride on a rickshaw around the bustling Chandni Chowk bazaar.

Jodhpur – you can discover highlights including Meherangarh Fort and the clock tower in the Blue City.

Ranthambore National Park – you can enjoy three included game drives in the park and look out for rare Bengal Tigers and sloth bears

Udaipur – you can sail on the stunning Lake Pichola and enjoy a tour of the romantic city including the City Palace.

Jaipur – you can visit the striking Amber Fort and tour the highlights of the city including the beautiful City Palace and Jantar Mantar.

You just need to get in touch with your dates and your style of travel and I will take care of the rest.

Inspiration: Canadian Rockies.

If you are looking for an epic rail journey through the spectacular Canadian Rockies, look no further than Rocky Mountaineer. A journey on-board the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer is so much more than just a train ride; it’s the key to unlocking a hidden world of shifting landscapes, unparalleled natural beauty and endless wildlife viewing.

For your information, the Rocky Mountaineer is an all-daylight 2-3 day train service between the Northwest Coast through to Canada’s spectacular Western Rockies. Operating between late April and mid-October, they offer multiple train routes featuring the very best of the west and showcasing the diverse and rugged landscapes that form British Columbia and Alberta, passing through places like the famous and spectacular Banff and Lake Louise, Whistler, etc.

The ride is 2 to 3 days, sleeping in hotels, not on-board. Packages can include tours during stops. The signature train service can be paired with additional Hotel stays, Rental Cars, Cruises and more for a well rounded adventure! In other words, I can customize a tour to make it your perfect vacation of 7 days, 10 days, 17 days, more or less or anything in between.

*** Since they operate in Western Canada only the closest point for you to begin your journey on the Rocky Mountaineer is in Calgary or on the other end, in Vancouver.

05/04/2020

Hi everyone,

The last few weeks have been some of the most challenging in business so far with the impact of the COVID-19 on my customers' plans.

While like you, I have no control over the situation, I couldn't help but feel personally responsible for trying to make amendments and cancellations which were well past their deadlines, as easy and as cost effective as possible for my clients.
For them, I fought as I promised I would. I persisted and hung in there no matter the hours and days operators and airlines make one wait for.

Today, I processed my last refund and despite them all being considered as financial losses to me, I felt a sense of victory, having reached the best possible outcomes for my clients, making them happy and satisfied at a time which is not all that happy and mainly giving them a sense of security knowing that someone in the industry cares enough to fight for them.

I can absolutely guarantee that no online engine and very few travel companies would have made the efforts I made these last few weeks. None of my clients had to endure holding for an airline or an operator for hours, sending tens of emails following-up on one cancellation or having to wait for call backs.

Please think about that next time you book online to save a few dirhams or dollars.
