Dubai autonomous transports and flying taxi

C’est mercredi, en marge du « Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport » (qui s’est ouvert en présence du Cheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-Président et Premier Ministre des EAU ainsi qu’Emir de Dubaï), que le Président de l’Autorité des Routes et des Transports (RTA) a annoncé que l’Emirat ne se trouvait « plus très loin » du lancement des premiers moyens de transports autonomes, qui incluent notamment celui des taxis hélicoptères. Il a ajouté que des tests étaient actuellement menés sur chacun de ces futurs modes de déplacements.

D’autre part, il a indiqué que dans la première phase de déploiement, les futurs taxis et bus autonomes seront mis en circulation avec un conducteur, par sécurité, de manière à être sûr que la technologie est 100% mature pour arriver sur le marché. Les taxis hélicoptères sont aussi à l’essai à Dubaï, afin de confronter cette technologie aux spécificités de l’Emirat (en matière de météo et d’infrastructures notamment), mais du chemin reste à parcourir avant d’apercevoir les premiers appareils à Dubaï (sans parler de l’aspect règlementaire).

Des campagnes visant à rassurer le public devront aussi être organisées puisque la technologie aura beau être aboutie, si le public n’a pas confiance, il ne l’utilisera pas.
