Happy New Year!
I welcomed in the New Year with some friends at the lovely Oblu Select by Sangeli.
A family friendly resort, less than an hours speedboat journey from Male, with a lovely house reef for snorkelling. The all inclusive Serenity Plan is great; sunset fishing and snorkelling trips, along with a 45 minute massage and dinner at both of the specality restaurants, as well as all drinks and snacks are included!
Banyan One is the adults only pool, bar & restaurant during the day for those who enjoy some peace and tranquility.
The Sangs Bar is centre of everything happening on the island, daily & nightly entertainment, family pool and on the beach.
The New Years Eve celebrations were fantastic! Live music, a gala dinner, DJ and fireworks all made for a great night!

TC Fest! The theme was Festival; we had the man of the hour, the amazing Vernon Kay after raising £6M for BBC Children in Need. We raved to The Ibiza Symphony, rocked to Rockakoe (karaoke with a live band...epic!), giggled through Silent Disco (always a fave of mine!).

The Ski season is here....well not here.....here as in Dubai.....unless you practically live in Ski Dubai 😆, which is where I was last night at an event hosted by Club Med showcasing their unique all inclusive ski resorts across Europe.
The hot chocolate was delicious, the Snowman building competition was very competitive 🙂 and the whole evening was good fun!

The UK annual Travel Counsellors Conference 2022 finished yesterday afternoon, it was 3 days of inspiration, postivity, all things travel and great fun!
From the small seminar groups on Friday afternoon, to the Fairground themed night, to the keynote speakers on Saturday; Paul McKenna, Rebecca Adlington and Bianca Miller-Cole, the business updates from the leadership team, the Travel Market with so many of our wonderful suppliers & partners, the spectacular Gala Dinner hosted by Sir Lenny Henry with first class entertainment. All wrapped up on Sunday with a gospel choir, an emotional and funny session with Sir Lenny Henry, amazing prizes won by our UK TC's and a beautiful redition of 'You Will Never Walk Alone' by the talented Vic Trundle in the UK Head Office.
It was fabulous to be back together after 3 years, new friendships and reconnections made with a great group of people, collectively known as the Travel Counsellors Community 🥰.
A community built on caring for each other and our customers, that is why 'with us it's personal'.
I am now back in Dubai, emotional, shattered, humbled and excited for the next 12 months and beyond!

Yesterday I visited the beautiful Oberoi Beach Resort located a 45 minute drive from Dubai, in Ajman.
Referred to as a 'hidden gem' this property is nestled between protected mangroves, lagoons and a natural, pristine, white sandy beach.
The Premier, Deluxe rooms and Suites are spacious, some of the largest in the UAE, starting at 61m2 up to 132 m2 for the Suites, comfortably accommodating 2 adults & 2 children aged up to 12 years.
All have large private terraces and provide sunset views.
The 2 and 3 bedroom villas have their own private pools, outdoor tropical showers and are thoughtfully designed so you can enjoy your own privacy when staying with family or friends.
The two restaurants provide full A La Carte service and an array of international and Mediterranean dishes, with locally sourced ingredients.

An emotional day yesterday, one full of love, pageantry and thanks.
A truly global icon, admired, loved and respected by so many, a constant in our lives. More importantly though, a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt who will be greatly missed by her family and all those who were close to her. My thoughts are with you.

This week at our annual conference, Travel Counsellors UAE celebrated our 10 year anniversary and today I celebrate 3 years as a Travel Counsellor!
The conference was a day and evening packed with great speakers, content and surprises!
The highlight was being able to get together with our wonderful suppliers, trade partners and colleagues; being able to reconnect and re establish those all important relationships after the hardest few years the travel industry has ever seen.
Starting your own travel business 6 months before a global pandemic arrived was a matter of timing 😐, but I and Travel Counsellors are still here and coming back stronger!

Before we begin our journey together, here is a little bit of my background:
Prior to becoming a Travel Counsellor, I have had a career focused on customer service, the last 12 years of which have been in Dubai and traveled extensively since childhood.
Originally from the UK, my passion for travel stems from living in Nigeria, Bahrain and Singapore while growing up and being able to visit nearby places. After graduation I worked Ski Seasons in France and Summer Seasons in Greece and Sardinia; again, taking the opportunity to visit nearby places. During a gap year, I undertook a solo round the world trip encompassing Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador including the Galapagos Islands, Bolivia, Peru (Inca Trail and Machu Pichu), Argentina, Chile, Easter Island (Rapa Nui), Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
Since moving to Dubai, I have traveled to Oman, Georgia, Jordan, South Africa, Maldives, Mauritius and New York. One thing is for sure, the list of places to visit never gets any shorter!
