Recently a WWII era RAF (Royal Air Force) Spitfire flew out to greet a WWII era German Luftwaffe Me262 (replica) jet fighter.

The aircraft holds special significance as the first operational jet-powered fighter in aviation history and one of the most powerful aircraft to fly in the Second World War. With its swept wings, axial flow jet engines and modern cockpit, the Me262 played a fundamental role in ushering in the dawn of the jet age.
Since then, five replicas of the jet have been built from scratch using fragment drawings in a process in a multiyear restoration process, with the maiden flight of the aircraft featuring in April 2006.

King Charles III honored with RAF (Royal Air Force) flypast.
Coronation of King Charles III was honored with World War II, Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lancaster that once overflew his mother Queen Elizabeth II, who was a British Army Veteran of the Second World War. 🇬🇧
Amazing they are still flying.

Airlines retire hundreds of planes every year. Sometimes it’s due to a drop in travel demand and other times it’s so they can be replaced with new, more fuel efficient aircraft. At a certain point, they are too old and costly to maintain.
So, what happens to an airplane when it’s retired? Many are sent out to the Arizona desert where, after their last flight, they are stripped for parts that are worth millions of dollars – everything from the engines to the landing gear, critical sensors, oxygen masks – even the pilot seats. Some of those parts are refurbished and reused. Some wind up being used to train new generations of pilots. What’s left often ends up crushed for scrap metal that is recycled or upcycled – some of it is turned into high-end furniture or even keychains.
It’s a fascinating process to see up close and personal.
