It’s safe to say my preconceptions of this city have been completely blown away, as much as this place is about the fast cars and expensive restaurants it also has an extremely rich culture which is so interesting having grown up in a completely different western culture.

I spent my morning in Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve amongst the most breathtaking, unspoilt desert scenery in .

Birds of prey have always fascinated me, especially the peregrine falcon (the fastest animal in the world). I had an interactive experience with one - I got to watch it fly, watch it train, watch it hunt.

has given me such an insight and history lesson on the Arab falconry culture. I simply can not put into words how remarkable the experience was.

I got to interact with a gyr/peregrine hybrid, desert eagle owl (which are native to the UAE. I had no idea), greater spotted eagle, and a Harris hawk, too.

During all of this, I saw more desert wildlife than I have in the 5 years combined I've lived in t UAE; Arabian oryx, desert fox, desert monitor, sandfish, gazelle, and antelope. I saw sidewinder tracks, too.

Thanks Royal Shaheen for such a memorable, transformative, and educational experience. thank you for making desert conservation a priority.
