Salaam alaikum friends. I am back from Saudi Arabia Road trip.Apart from the Umrah pilgrimage I did some explorations and drove on some of the most scenic roads in the world which is at a place called Al Ula where the have an ancient civilization like Petra in Jordan.Jordan is just 600 or 700 kms from Hegra(Madain Saleh).First of all ,as some of our friends mentioned earlier ,there is no need of doing Car-net if we are taking our own vehicle.Same like traveling to Oman there is 30 Aed exit fee from UAE.I took 500 aed Saudi Multiple Entry visa.Car insurance can be obtained at the border.I paid 200aed + for a month.1 week or 2 weeks policy can be purchased as well.If we do it ourself it’s around roughly 430 Aed.Makkah ,Madinah and Al Ula are super clean and well maintained.I wish they had UAE standard fuel stations on they way with clean toilets through out the country .I am sure it’s coming .This is something Saudi authorities should consider.Roads are not so good from Bat ha /Ghuwaifat border to Riyad and Riyad to Taif. While going I went on “not so good road” but while coming back to Riyad from Hail the roads were very good!.In my experience, some of the roads are not in good shape because of heavy truck drive .Once we reach Makkah ,Madinah and Al Ula etc they are super clean.Neom city construction is 500+ kms from Al Ula and it’s gonna take another 10 years or so.There are many beautiful places like Abha and Al Hasa where you can enjoy nature.People were nice and helpful.Locals didn’t come to scam. They all are not super rich.In fact some Saudi men approached me when they saw Dubai license plate.I had stopped at the mosque for prayer and Washroom. They asked me how could they help me .I said I am going back to Riyad and all good.I thanked them for them kindness. That was a sweet gesture. The driving is a little indisciplined and unorganized. My Indian driving skills helped a lot .It’s hard to find a car without dents and scratches!More than motor bike I would suggest 4x4 drive to Kingdom. However Adventure bikes or Cruisers bikes will be good as well.Fuel should be filled when your tank is half. Not all fuel station on the highway are operational.During the drive I felt sleepy and my wife was driving and my LC 100’s main tank was almost over and sub tank fuel was used.Gradually that also went low.We almost ran out of fuel.I drove about 40 kms with the fuel light on.There were fuel stations in between but they were not working !That was a bad experience. Finally we found one Al hamdulillah and then onwards made sure to refill even before the main tank reduced to quarter.my wife would drive whenever I felt sleepy and it was a great help ,MashaAllaah.Over all it’s a was a memorable experience and I would do it again. Those who want to avoid the long drive can take a flight to Al Ula.They hid this place for 2000 years from the outside world and it’s open for tourism now.I have brought Zam Zam water please feel free to contact me if anyone wants.A road trip to Saudi will be great between November to March.2 weeks good enough. It’s easy cross Jordan border or take a Ferry to Egypt. We can get Jordan visa at the border.Regarding Egypt may be it’s better to get visa in advance from UAE.Any questions regarding please feel free to message me directly

Desert is a magical place. There is “Actual” Temperature and “Feeling” Temperature .So things in the desert doesn’t go as per your temperature reading.Noon time can be 45 degrees and you may feel like 60 DC.Evening can be 35 and you can feel like 25 degeree Celsius. No matter what month of the year, the desert is cooler than the city ,1 and half hours before the sunset!.So don’t drop the plans for the desert tour based on the hot weather in the noon time. You are missing a great sunset on the dunes ,MashaAllaah
