What's not to like about Taco Tuesday .thepalmdxb ? Every Tuesday from 6-10pm. These are the Beef Barbacoa tacos. We also had Pico Chicken, Spicy Diablo Shrimp, and of course Crispy Fish Baja Style tacos. Excellent service and prices too. Tacos only AED 99, Tacos and Soft Drinks AED 139, Tacos and Margaritas AED 239, or Tacos and House drinks AED 339. I opted for the Margaritas, and they were mixed perfectly. Combined with a beach setting and view of Dubai Marina, makes for a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon or evening.

We had some friends over for dinner recently. The main courses were Shrimp Jambalaya and Shrimp Creole, but I wanted to make a completely different appetizer, so I went retro. Who doesn't remember Stuffed Potato Skins, which was on almost every bar menu in the 1980's. Dipped in a cool sourcream dip with chives. Oh, so good!

I had a wonderful weekend in Oman with my beautiful wife .07 . We stayed one night at the top of Jebel Shams and the second night at Tilal Al Qattara in Mashūq, where we hiked up the Wadi to a magical swimming spot before visiting the old village of Al Bashuq. We'll definitely be going back.

I took this motley crew for some true Americana today. Smokin Buns in Jacksonville, Arkansas. I think we covered the basics of Southern cuisine with Fried Pickles, Fried Green Tomatoes, Burnt Ends, Catfish with Hushpuppies, BBQ Beans and Pickled Tomatoes. And, if that wasn't enough, we went to Bass Pro Shops where we spent several hours wandering the aisles of camouflage, guns, hunting and fishing supplies, and every other outdoor sport accessory. It was a good day, representing Scotland, Germany, France, the UK and of course, the US.

I'm sitting here at almost 1 mile above sea level in the stunningly beautiful Haute-Savoie. Only 1 hour from Geneva, the village of La Clusaz, offers amazing views and numerous pistes for skiing. This could become my new favorite.
