Sawatdee Pii Mai (Happy New Year) from Thailand! ❤️🇹🇭

When the clock strikes midnight, Thailand not only welcomes in the year 2025 but also the year 2568. This is because Thailand uses the Buddhist calendar alongside the Gregorian calendar. The year 2025 is reckoned as the year 2568 in the Buddhist Era.

Wherever you are in the world we wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2025/2568 🙏🙏🙏

December 5 is a public holiday in Thailand to commemorate the birthday of the late King Rama IX (King Bhumibol Adulyadej). The King was fondly referred to as the Father of the Nation, so the date is also celebrated as Father’s Day. Children may present their parents with a jasmine garland on Father’s Day and Mother’s Day (August 12) as a mark of respect. 🙏

December 5 is also National Day in Thailand. Thai people take great pride in their national flag with the colour red representing the nation and the people, white representing Buddhism and religion, and blue symbolising the monarchy. 🇹🇭
