Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are launching a tourism program, within the framework of which it is planned to create a transport corridor. This was reported on the website of the national PR center under the State Committee for Tourism.
The transport corridor will connect the main pilgrimage sites of the two countries: the mausoleums in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan (Arystanbab, Akhmada Yassavi, Hakim-ata (Suleiman Bakyrgani) and the Zangi-ata mausoleum in the Tashkent region.
It is noted that for these purposes the procedure for passing through customs points will be simplified, as well as a unified visa regime will be introduced, which will give tourists the opportunity to freely enter the territory of the two countries.
“Now we have agreed that on the border of the two countries, between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, convenient conditions will be created to reduce and simplify border crossing procedures. A lot of work has been done on the Uzbek side. Now the Kazakh side at the Zhipek Zholy post is doing a lot of work on their reconstruction. I think that this work should be continued at other posts so that tourist buses can cross the border with minimal time costs, ”said Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov.
The authors of the program believe that in order to increase the tourism potential of the two countries, it is necessary to open new transport corridors.
“Representatives of the government of Kazakhstan have already agreed with the Uzbek side on the construction of a new railway line, that is, now it will be possible to get directly from Turkestan to Tashkent by train.
