According to the Armenian Calendar, today is the 4516th year.
Today marks the beginning of the year starting from March 21st. According to the Armenian calendar (Haykian calendar), the year 4516 begins on the day of Areg, the month of Areg.
This is the year (BC 2492), when, according to the legend of Hayk Nahapet, Hayk defeated Bel with a bow.
This calendar starts from the year BC 2492. There are very few nations who still follow the oldest calendar. Armenians belong to those people, along with the Egyptians, Assyrians, Greeks, and Persians.

Gospel of the Village Mzuk
The collection of the Mashtots Matenadaran has been replenished with another Gospel copied by elder priest Hovhannes. The manuscript was written in 1454, in the village of Mzuk, Motkan district of Sassoon, Bagesh (Bitlis) province, which was the center of Armenian writing culture in the Middle Ages.
The name of the illuminator is unknown. The miniatures belong to the Vaspurakan school. The receiver was the landlord Hakob, who donated it to St. Astvatsatsin Church of Vandir.
This Gospel of the Village Mzuk, like the previous donated manuscript, rested next to another Gospel of the same scribe preserved in the Matenadaran. The Gospel is one of the few manuscripts extant from the village of Mzuk, which was copied in 1452 by the scribe Hovhannes. Priest Ghazar was the receiver of the manuscript. In the XVI century, the manuscript was kept in St. Stepanos Church of Kaghrogom, then in St. Hovhannes monastery of Amirdol. Later, the manuscript was mentioned to be in St. Hakob church, from where it probably moved to St. Etchmiadzin, then to the Matenadaran after Mashtots.
The name of the illuminator is unknown. The miniatures belong to the Vaspurakan school.
