What to do in Bonaire?
Snorkeling
Snorkeling allows visitors to get a broad view of the coral reef with its many inhabitants. In a few meters of depth, chances are you can spot turtles, rays or even a seahorse.
Just like the dive sites, many of Bonaire's snorkel sites are marked by yellow stones. You will see them on the roadside along the coastline. Each name carries the name of the particular snorkel site and marks a convenient entry point.

Places to visit in Bonaire
Bonaire Marine Park
The Bonaire National Marine Park is managed by STINAPA, it was established in 1979. The park
starts at the high water mark and extends to 200 ft (60 meters) of
depth; it covers an area of 6672 acres or 27 km²
This park has an incredible mission, to protect and
manage the island’s natural, cultural and historical resources, while
allowing ecologically sustainable use, for the benefit of future
generations.

The reefs around Bonaire form a narrow fringing reef, which begins
practically at the shoreline and extends to a maximum of 984 feet (300m) offshore. The whole area is protected as part of the Bonaire National Marine Park and legislation ensures wise use of the island’s coral reefs, seagrass, and mangroves. Nearly 60 species of coral can be found on the reefs, but they do vary by habitat.

What to do in Bonaire?
Birdwatching

Bonaire is a favorite for birdwatchers. With over 200 species of birds living on the island, Washington Slagbaai National Park and Pekelmeer are two of the most popular locations to spot Bonaire’s two legged feathered friends.

Bonaire’s birds can be classified into three categories: shore birds, seabirds and land birds The best place to watch Bonaire’s feathered symbol, the flamingo, is at the island’s salt ponds in the National Park, at Goto Meer or at the southern end of the island at the Pekelmeer Sanctuary. The flamingos can be seen from the road, it is important to keep your distance and not disturb the birds.

Places to visit in Bonaire:
Slave huts

These huts were constructed in 1850 during the slavery time, and served as camping facilities for slaves working in the salt ponds to collect and ship the salt, one of Bonaire's most important export product.
They also were used as sleeping quarters and place to put away personal belongings of the working team. Each Friday afternoon the slaves walked seven hours to Rincon to weekend with their families, returning each Sunday.

Take it easy

Don’t try to schedule 6 countries into 6 weeks of travel. All the good stuff happens when you really take the time to explore. You’ll learn about activities that aren’t in your guidebook and meet people who are eager to show you around.

Most of the times, the best travel experiences happen within the first few days of arriving somewhere. Spend more time in fewer places for maximum enjoyment. You’ll have a much better time!

What to do in ?
Rappelling & Rock Climbing

For adventure seekers, Bonaire offers cliffs to climb and rappel down. There aren’t many high mountains on island, but Bonaire has some great limestone walls, which are perfect for rock climbing and rappelling off. One of the easier mountains to climb is Brandaris Hill in Washington Slagbaai National Park. Once reaching the top of the mountain, you’ll see the panoramic view of almost the entire island.
