Have you ever had ‘Djus di Tamarein’ (tamarind juice) before?🍹🧃

Originally from East Africa, tamarind’s tangy taste and benefits have crossed continents and now run wild all over our island🌳

With the fruit we make the drink and it will cool you off and provide a satisfying sour-yet-sweet taste!

If you are not on the island and can’t find this juice near you, try making it yourself😃 Follow these instructions:

🌱Peel and boil the tamarind fruit in water with sugar and stirring with a wooden spoon until texture thickens.

🌱Taste and add more water as needed.

🌱Strain the pits and let cool.

🌱And if you like it sweeter, add more sugar if needed

Give it a try, share and tag us if you do!😍

This way of playing music is called “den seku”, which literally means “in the dry”. It’s a way of playing without any electrical instruments🪘🪇

If you want to experience the rhythm of Bonaire for yourself, there are various events taking place during April🎉💃🏽🕺🏿

Have you ever hiked the Bara di Karta trail? 🥾🌵

From the Bara di Karta water well starts the hiking route in the west direction. The first approximately 150 meters is composed of a slightly inclined ground.

After the first 150 meters, the climb to the top begins. The top will be reached in about 10 minutes; from which a large part of the island can be observed.

Kralendijk and Klein Bonaire can be seen to the west. On the east side you can see the airport, the salt pans, Lac mangroves, the rough east coast and in the distance the lighthouse😃

Are you convinced? Save this post for later!☝️

From climate resilience and efforts to maintain sustainability, Green has never been more important in the region. And of course there is no island better suited for these awards than Bonaire!💚

This is a Yellow-crowned Night Heron (krabechi korona hel in Papiamentu)🐦

They can be found in the remote mangroves of Bonaire. Crayfish and fish are often eaten by the yellow-crowned night-heron, but with its powerful beak, they can also crack open tough prey like crabs and shellfish🦀🦪

Bonaire is a sanctuary for herons, with a coastline that stretches for over a hundred kilometers, enormous mangrove regions, vast salt pans, and countless saliñas and lakes.

Once a Visitor Always a Friend

An island blessed with an unsurpassed natural beauty.

From the depths of our pristine waters to the height of our tallest peak, you will feel Bonaire’s magic wash over you from the moment you arrive and throughout the days as you become attuned to Bonaire’s unhurried pace. You will find that, here on Bonaire, there is a peaceful ambiance for daily life, without the hassle of traffic lights, hustle and bustle, or normal, day-to-day worries. Your only concern will be how to spend each new day you have on Bonaire. Nowhere else is vacationing as easy as on Bonaire, as our warm, friendly people welcome visitors from around the world.

Next to other activities as, kite surfing, windsurfing and snorkeling, Bonaire continues to be recognized as one of the top destinations worldwide for its sustainable tourism. For the 27th consecutive year Bonaire was recognized as the number one Shore Diving Destination in the Caribbean/Atlantic in Scuba Diving Magazine’s Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. This year, it received 9 awards. It was also voted number one for Macro Marine Life, Photography, Snorkeling and Health and Marine Life.

Bonaire has a long history of nature preservation, and always seeks to find the delicate balance between environmental protection and growth, while maintaining nature and culture. Bonaire was one of the first Caribbean islands to collaborate with the Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire (formerly Coral Restoration Foundation) to conserve our reefs. By commencing a program for cultivating new corals, specifically the stag horn and Elkhorn corals, Bonaire will be able to preserve the reef’s genetic diversity. In this way residents, visitors and future generations will be able to enjoy an enriched marine environment.
