The friendly fishing excursion staff will be waiting for you at your Philipsburg St. Maarten cruise terminal area outside your cruise ship. You will get checked in and welcomed aboard the fishing boat. There is plenty of room to spread out and settle in to relax and enjoy the scenic island coast view on your way out to the fishing spots. The English speaking bottom fishing crew will give you a briefing of the boat, point out the life jackets, restrooms and go over the regular safety information. Complimentary beverages will be served throughout this bottom fishing excursion including rum punch, fruit punch, soft drinks, juice, ice cold beer and bottled water. There are shaded areas as well as those out in the sun so everyone will be comfortable. The bottom fishing shore excursion boat will cruise approximately 45-minutes along the pretty St. Maarten coastline. As you approach the fishing location, the crew will pass out the bottom fishing gear (there are high-tech rods and handheld reels available) and show you how to use them. When the boat arrives at the site, the captain will either drop anchor or let the boat drift with the current (and fish). The shore excursion crew will assist you to get the fishing lines in the water. They will bait the hooks and be ready to help you bring your fish in if you get a bite. Although catching is never guaranteed, guests often catch Snapper, Grouper, Red Hinds, Cooneys, Barracuda, Trigger Fish, Snook, Jack, and African Pompano. All fish caught will be released - no fish may be kept. Guests will have about 2 hours of pure bottom fishing before time is over and the boat heads back to your St. Maarten cruise ship pier. Minimum age for this bottom fishing excursion in St. Maarten is 8 years old. Guests will have 2 options of drop-off locations - the boat can either take you to their pier across from downtown or they will take you back to the cruise pier.
