RATIONALE
I coined the term “Cosmolatinx” as an interdisciplinary and multimodal tool of self-inquiry that has allowed me to position myself at multiple locations of the global cultural landscape. At first, the term aimed at pointing out the compartmentalization of individuality and the relationship that the Self establishes with Otherness in an Age of constant neurological communication. My first working hypothesis suggested that within the Self inhabits a complex network of intersectional and dynamic vital energies that inherently link us to the people around us. Rationalism stated, as a sine qua non, that an individual attained her/his individuality by the exercise of rational thinking, which was manifested by uttering a form of a logical language. Therefore, an individual was not at all compelled to acknowledge Otherness to exercise reason. Rationalism has acquired different conceptual forms since its epistemological inception during the Enlightenment, passing through Positivism, Eugenics, Economic Liberalism, Neoliberalism and, more recently, Virtual Reality. In this line of thought, the term “Cosmolatinx” highlights the eagerness of self-determination of Latinx communities to gain global control of the social dynamics that shape everyday life, thus claiming the anxiety to conquest the mindset of our galaxy. Last year, when I accepted a tenure track position at the University of Denver to teach Latinx cultural studies and literature, the global order seemed anchored in an economic battle between the West and the East, each latitude leaded by the U.S. and China. What at first appeared to be a polarized global system, current global issues and economic affairs have catapulted to the surface innumerable human challenges that as for today have not a clear path towards their resolution. For instance, the immigration crisis, global warming, gender identity crisis, global economy, to mention only a few examples, are today seen also as effects of the evolution of the human brain. I identify three pillars that are crucial in the endeavor of tackling these issues of; I suggest, of cosmic magnitude: 1)Neuroscience, 2)android technologies, and 3)the intrinsic neurological interconnectivity (which still produces skepticism among the global population) among living beings despite their species. Anatomical idealism has exposed the precarious condition of human life and, furthermore, suggests that many ethnic groups are deemed to disappeared due to the assumed inefficiency attach to their anatomic structure, psychological and physiological functions. As the interaction between the three aforementioned pillars suggest, it is not outrageous to start believing that the future of human life could easily be control by a Super Artificial Intelligence (SAI) that does not have necessarily to enact its functions from a computerized system. Despite the fact that SAI is being developed by an invisible neoliberal anonymous global committee, individuals (restricted to Artificial Intelligence (AI) only through elemental computerized platforms, mostly via android devices) have found themselves unable to tackle crucial, and still elemental, tasks to face the unavoidable confrontation with an unknown future controlled by an invisible mindset supported by a SAI.
Thus, this journal, written in a blog-style, targets manifold subjects from an inter and multi-disciplinary standpoint. The reader will encounter social critique, sonic approximations to reality, political opinions, anthropological commentaries, among other critical entries all aiming at articulating a heterogenous corpus of multimodal texts to make sense of the puzzle-like reality that is shaping our lives in the XXI century.
