Behind The Ranges reporting from Quito! The great Anthony Bourdain always said that the best cooks he knew came from Ecuador. So we came straight to the source. So happy to visit . It's always exciting to to discover places like this with great food, respect to the ingredients and true identity. Chef Narcisa Barcia Garcia leads this wonderful and unpretentious restaurant that specializes in Ecuadorian Pacific Coast with a modern twist. Out of the traditional touristic circuit but definitely E must visit place in Quito.

You shouldn't miss "Nothing"/ "Nada"!
If you have ever been to Buenos Aires, this will definitely make you want to come back.
If you happen to live there you will appreciate & enjoy the privilege of being a local.
If you are planning to visit soon, you will be excited and will learn some fundamental things before actually getting here.
If you yet don't have any plans to come or don't know anything about this city, it will work as a great intro & surely after watching it, you will start planning your next trip.
That said, it is important to clarify that it is not a "love letter" to the city, or an "idyllic postcard", or yet another foodie travel documentary about Buenos Aires. It certainly isn't a sociological treatise trying to define what strange kind of beast the citizens of Buenos Aires are. And yet somehow all these are ingredients of this masterful fiction.
"Nothing" is definitely comedy of a peculiar kind. Do not look for easy laughs here, but via cringe comedy, deadpan delivery & subtlety. Think Coen Brothers, Larry David, Hal Hartley. The humor can be dark & bitter but it is well balanced because it is so well written and played.
All technical aspects are excellent: script, performances, direction & photography. Luis Brandoni steals the show in every scene. The supporting actors are also magnificent. By the way, there is also a certain Robert De Niro who gracefully carries a small part. I dare to say that here he is playing one of his best roles in the last few years.
So what is the premise? Are Argentineans as perfect & great as they claim to be? Is Buenos Aires a bed of roses? According to "Nada" the answer to both is a qualified "NO!"
But hey, as a certain Jules Winnfiled once said, "Personality goes a long way"
So, go watch it!. And then book your flights.
"Nothing" is available in the US thru Hulu & Star+

Mi opinión : Parques Nacionales, ente autarquico a merced de la Campora y los mapuches. Dependiente del único gobierno del mundo que no sólo no castiga y encarcela, sino que negocia con terroristas extranjeros... y les cede territorio nacional. Un acto criminal, de traición a la patria.

Memories of my recent trip to Perú still fresh in my mind, I am watching this fantastic short film with a lump in my throat. No words are needed, just sublime images & music to open our eyes to the real world that exists alongside one of of the main travel destinations in Perú. "Tourism is a mortal sin", Werner Herzog said at his crankiest. Now this is a little to harsh but I do get his point. Travel should spread a positive impact wherever it happens.
