📍Lago Argentino (Argentino Lake) is the largest of the great Patagonian lakes in Argentina, and the southernmost of its continental territory.
The lake lies within the Los Glaciares National Park in a landscape with numerous glaciers and is fed by the glacial meltwater of several rivers, the water from Lake Viedma brought by the La Leona River, and many mountain streams.
The glaciers, the nearby town of El Calafate and the lake itself are important tourist destinations. The lake in particular is appreciated for fishing. Perch, common galaxias (“puyen grande”), lake trout and rainbow trout — in both anadromous and Potamodromous forms — are all found.
Lago Argentino was also the name of the airport that served the area until 2000. This airport is currently closed, and its runway was incorporated into the city’s road system. It has been replaced by Comandante Armando Tola International Airport, which serves the town of El Calafate and Lago Argentino with many daily national and international flights.

🏂 If you were wondering about cool activities to do in Chile, this is definitively one of the top recommendations for those who love snowboarding or skiing.
🇨🇱 The city of Antofagasta, located in the northern region of Chile, has a series of sand dunes in its surroundings, which offer opportunities for recreational and sports activities, as well as to enjoy the natural beauty of the desert.
Cerro Paranal Dunes: One of the best-known areas to experience dunes in the region is Cerro Paranal, located in the Atacama Desert, south of Antofagasta. This place is especially famous for being home to the Paranal Observatory of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), but it also has sand dunes that are ideal for sandboarding and stargazing.
Sandboarding: The sand dunes in the Antofagasta region are popular with lovers of sandboarding, a sport that involves sliding over the dunes using a board similar to a snowboard. Many tour operators offer equipment and classes for those who want to try this exciting activity.

🦅🇦🇷 The majestic Andean condor is one of the world’s largest flying birds, with an 11-foot wingspan and up to 33 pounds in weight. Condors have become rare in northern South America due to hunting and habitat loss, but remain present in Patagonia and abundant in certain areas. In the Patagonian and Andean Steppes, these scavengers used to consume guanaco and vicuña carcasses almost exclusively, but they now feed also on remains of livestock and introduced species such as European hare and red deer.

🚂 Travelling on the End of the World Train is one of the experiences to live in Ushuaia (Argentina), which besides crossing a unique Fuegian landscape, is a journey through time and history.
One of the places to visit because of its connection with the “End of the World” is the “Tren del Fin del Mundo” (End of the World Train). It was originally a steam train that ran from 1909 to 1952.
It was used to transport prisoners from Ushuaia penitentiary to Mount Susana, which is why it was called the prisoners’ train. In the woods, the prisoners had to cut down trees and obtain other materials that were used to heat with firewood different buildings in the city.
The original route of the train from Ushuaia to the mount was 25 km long.
