Friends, the big bathroom remodel is now complete!! Yep, it’s taken a loooooong time, but what a sweet outcome. I never dreamt I would someday have a place with marble walls and floors! I feel like such an adult now, sourcing the materials, the hardware, picking companies that will still be there tomorrow, etc. It has custom furniture that we chose to make with Petribi wood (a tree that grows in Misiones, Argentina). If you’ve been there before, you’ll notice that the layout is a bit different than it used to be. We removed the old separation making space for a larger sink inside the bathroom; mounted a translucent glass door and hardwood panels; replaced the awkward high-step shower area with a walk-in shower; added a towel heater, and dropped a ceiling to recess dimmable lights.

Anyways, after all these years, it was time for an upgrade, and the PalermoLoft is again the ideal base and peaceful retreat in the bustling city. Coffee shops, bakery, the Palermo Parks and metro station are all nearby. It has one king upstairs and two murphy singles downstairs, so it sleeps up to 4.

Next time you go to Buenos Aires, hit me up! (it’s currently available starting January 4th (and a few days right now).

The plumbing lines are in and the walls now covered with a timeless marble, precisely cut (rectified) in large rectangular sections. The green one is kind of mesmerizing.. like a galaxy of stars, interstellar gas, dust and dark matter. Contrasting with it in the shower area and the floor, the nero venato, a black marble with white veins. The 15cm space at the top is for dropping a ceiling for recessed lighting (the current ceiling is reinforced concrete that separates floors (entre-piso). This will bring in also a lot nicer light than before. Only thing I now wish we had planned for a gap on the edges of the suspended ceiling for LED strips to highlight the walls.

The final round of plans for the bathroom remodel are in. Here are my two favorite options. One is practical, already much better than the current bathroom with more space, clean lines, more light, large sliding mirrors in the dressing area and is more affordable than the second option which is more elegant/classy with marble and wood materials and a drop down ceiling for adding as much light as needed to compensate for the darker materials. Both are timeless designs that won't age fast. Do you prefer a walk-in shower or a bathtub? Bidet or no bidet? The bidet is common in Argentina but not so much in Europe and in the US. Would you miss it?

Staying at the Palermo Loft ...

What people are saying:

Adrian's loft is amazing. I stayed there for a month and I'm headed back there for another visit soon. It is romantic, peaceful, and very quiet even though you're in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the beautiful Palermo neighborhood, and very conveniently located to everything. Adrian was super helpful in the booking process and with getting us connected with his manager, who made checking in and out a total breeze. The apartment has WiFi, which was a great benefit. The space is light and airy - good air :) I highly recommend this apartment. -ET

I stayed in this apt with mom and a neighbor, and we had a great experience. The flat is in a very convenient location, near bus routes and train (D). It was in pristine condition and both the rental manager and owner were very helpful troubleshooting Internet and giving tips about local attractions before and during our stay. The flat has internet and one queen size bed on a cute loft, and two Murphy beds in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped if you like cooking. The flat is also walking distance from several parks, milongas, botanic garden and bike trails, and just steps away from cafes, gelato, fresh produce and good restaurants. The train takes you to downtown Buenos Aires in less than half hour, connecting with the other train lines along the way. Highly recommended, and will definitely try to book this again when I return to Buenos Aires. -LL

The loft is gorgeous, wonderfully decorated, spacious, and located just a few minutes from the amazing parks of Palermo. It is close to the Subway and tons of great restaurants and grocery stores. The projector in the apartment easily connects to your computer to watch movies or sports on a huge screen. Great place. Great experience. -MR
