Hey hey!

We have some hiking options after the first of the year, to explore some of Mendoza's amazing mountains.

First, for the experienced hikers, those wanting to spend two nights in a tent and three amazing days in the Andes, a hike to Plaza Francia in Parque Aconcagua. This is an all-inclusive hike, with transportation, all meals and porteador services provided, so all's you gotta do is walk carrying your backpack with water, spare clothes and trail food.

You do need good hiking gear for cold weather and you need to be friends with high altitude. A certified mountain guide will be leading this hike.

This is an amazing opportunity to see the "coloso", Mount Aconcagua's south wall up close and to experience the Andes' atmosphere.

For the more luxurious experience, you can sleep in a dome instead of a tent (for more money obviously) 🙂

Prices vary for Mendoza residents and for foreign visitors:
Mendoza residents: $180,000ARS base price
Foreign visitors: $250USD base price

We are approaching the finish line with the conversion of an apartment complex into a nomad community!

The facade painting is taking place this week, the interiors are done, and we're going to concentrate on the garden and the coworking space in the next few weeks, to get them done.

We are preparing some organized activities including mountain hikes, archery, rock climbing, interactive asado making and wine tasting, for all the nomads who come stay with us. Having 300mbps fiber internet doesn't hurt either! Stay tuned for more pics and announcements :)

A quick Sunday hike in Vallecitos, Quebrada del Medio, with Destino Montaña (https://destinomontana.com.ar).

Every time a question comes up in a travel/nomad group about hiking in Mendoza, it's very important to remember that we are in the Andes, and they don't joke around. The weather changes unpredictably, a tiny cloud far in the sky can quickly grow, descend and bring the temperature down fifteen or twenty degrees, usually with a strong wind. This same cloud can completely obscure the view, so if you don't know where to go or don't have a good GPS, it can get very unpleasant and down right dangerous. The terrain also changes, from a well-marked smooth trail to a rocky acarreo, to snow-covered rocks. The reward for all this, of course, is the majestic view of peaks Plata, Vallecitos, San Bernardo and many others, but you do need to be very cautious and plan your trip carefully. Best to go with a guide, such as Destino Montaña, highly qualified mountain guides with tons of experience and a lot of good vibes 🙂

The beginning of fall in Mendoza is absolutely gorgeous! With the heat gone, and the weather being perfect for outdoors, try to make your way out to place like Vallecitos, Tunuyán, Uspallata or Las Cuevas. Watch the foliage change, go on a hike or just sit outside enjoying early fall sunshine. Two hours south from the city, past Manzano Histórico where General San Martin returned after his victory in Peru, lies a beautiful rocky landscape, Cajón de Arenales.

It is the rock climber's heaven in direct proximity to Mendoza, but you can also use it for a very nice day hike. If you're up to hopping from one rock to another, you will enjoy this a lot! At the end of a 5-km hike, you will be rewarded with a shallow lagoon and might even see a horse or two and a flock of chinchillas.

If at some point you decide to do the Andes Crossing, following San Martin's route, you will be starting from this point. Let us know if you want more info on this arduous but absolutely wonderful trip!

If you would like to do something amazing for Mendoza, you can participate in the cleanup effort around Lake Potrerillos! At noon, you can head out to the Peatonal Sarmiento for a FREE performance by a band of musicians. Which band? You'll find out once you get there! :)

The musical picnics are back at Nave Cultural! Starting at 9:30PM, you can enjoy different musical styles while having your picnic on the garden lawn. This Saturday, the band is Agustín Porcel, Marcelo Muñoz & La Banda de los sueños. This is a FREE event.

Sunday, January 29th:

Provided you can wake up to get yourselves to Divisadero Largo by 9AM, you can enjoy a guided hike and learn about this amazing nature reserve. In case you're wondering what to do in Mendoza for the next few days, here's a list of events:

Sunday, January 22nd

Circus is in town! Circo Rodas is here for the month of January, with their tent set up in Lujan de Cuyo (https://www.facebook.com/CircoRodasOficial). Tickets are for sale on their website and at the ticket window.

Don't miss the weekend fair in the city parks and squares! Parque San Martin is featuring its usual arts and crafts market Saturday and Sunday, 11-11. Independence Square is lined with artisans' stalls selling everything, from souvenirs to olive oil. Parque Central has its own market as well, featuring arts, crafts, clothes and food.

If you like tango, then head out to Paseo Alameda, between Beltran and Alberdi, at around 9PM, to see and participate in Balcón de Tango. It's free and open to everyone to enjoy!

Monday, January 23rd

On a hot day like today, relax in Plaza Sarmiento, only a block away from our apartment complex. Sit under a tree in the Meditation Garden or cool down by one of the two pools with fountains.

Right now, jacaranda trees are in full bloom at Plaza Sarmiento and in the rest of Mendoza!

From my years of traveling, I've got almost twenty thousand photos, and the number is growing every day. With so many places I visit and live in, if I don't record it in pictures and writing, I'll forget, and that would be a crying shame.

Out of these thousands of photos, we've selected (drum roll!) nine to print out and to hang in the apartment. We're imagining a rotating exhibition of sorts, swapping out the images every so often between the different apartments and spaces.

For now, we're only showing images of Mendoza, the city, as well as some of our favorite mountain trails. These photos can also be for sale with my autograph! :)
