A very happy summer’s day in Patagonia for our amigo Marco. He landed this fantastic brown on a dry fly on his third cast of the morning. Not a bad way to start the day!

Summer days on the gin clear waters of the Chimehuín River in Patagonia.

One of the most emblematic trout rivers in Patagonia, and with good reason: the ‘Chime’ is reliably highly productive all season long, boasts astonishingly clear waters and winds through spectacular scenery.

Guests can float various stretches of the Chime in our drift boats, taking a picnic lunch to really make the most of the day. Alternatively, excellent wading is accessible from partner lodges Tipiliuke, River House and Tres Rios, each set right on the river’s banks.

Tromen Lake provides a spectacular backdrop to the perfect day’s fishing (and picnic). After enjoying his lunch break with a view, Mike got back out on the water and landed a brown, a rainbow and a gorgeous brook trout to round off the Tromen Trifecta. What a day!

Christmas Trees, with a Patagonian twist.🎄

The Andean foothills of Northern Patagonia are home to awe inspiring, ancient araucarias (or monkey puzzle trees in English). You can find yourself wandering between them while wading some of the best dry fly water in the world, like here on the Malleo River from partner lodge Mamuil Malal.

They feel like relics from a world gone by, set in a vast landscape practically untouched by humans.

Horse riding with the gauchos: an unforgettable way to explore Northern Patagonia off the water.

Fly fishing here is inextricably linked with the cattle ranching, estancia culture of Argentina. Much of the water we fish runs through or is accessed from centuries old private estancias. An unbelievably rare and beautiful blue cheeked brown trout from one of our excellent lakes for long time friend and guest Juan. The first photo is from a few days ago with guide Kurt, undisputed king of the lakes. The second was 9 years ago, fishing in the exact same spot with Peter, Kurt’s son and protégé.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate!

We’ve been lucky enough to spend this year with the Fish Patagonia family enjoying incredible Patagonian fishing, hospitality and scenery at partner lodge Estancia Tres Lagos. Plenty to be grateful for.
