An unbelievably rare and beautiful blue cheeked brown trout from one of our excellent lakes for long time friend and guest Juan. The first photo is from a few days ago with guide Kurt, undisputed king of the lakes. The second was 9 years ago, fishing in the exact same spot with Peter, Kurt’s son and protégé.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate!

We’ve been lucky enough to spend this year with the Fish Patagonia family enjoying incredible Patagonian fishing, hospitality and scenery at partner lodge Estancia Tres Lagos. Plenty to be grateful for.

We landed some great browns, rainbows and even Mike’s first ever perch from the lake. This spring in Patagonia we have excellent water levels from a long and wet winter, which bodes very well for fishing all summer long.

An especially beautifully coloured rainbow trout for a guest from the Chimehuín River last January. The Chime is one of the most productive fisheries in the area, and provides unforgettable days on the water in Patagonia all season long.

Empanadas: the Classic Argentinian way to kick off any asado.

At our own lodge Casa Quilquihue, chef Erika makes them from scratch the traditional way - fried in fat over the hot coals from the asado fire. Filled with anything from meat to vegetables or cheese and tomato, they’re versatile, an authentic local classic and, of course, totally delicious.
