Our First Day in Antarctica Left Us Speechless ❄️🐧🚢
The day began with our first landing on Half Moon Island. Onshore, chinstrap penguins 🐧 welcomed us with their boundless energy, while skuas soared overhead. Among the rocks, a few seals rested undisturbed, and in the distance, we spotted the unmistakable blow of a whale 🐋 on the horizon.
Back on board, a warm, hearty lunch 🍽️ refueled us for the next adventure. Reenergized, we hopped into the zodiacs and set off for Edinburgh Hill, a striking rock formation surrounded by icebergs sculpted over time. 🧊 Gliding through them felt like drifting through a natural art gallery, with only the crackling of ice in the water breaking the silence.
To end the day, we arrived at Yankee Harbour, where hundreds of gentoo penguins 🐧 shuffled between their nests and the sea. On the shore, elephant seals 🦭 lounged lazily, while Weddell seals gave us one last unforgettable moment before we returned to the ship.
And this is only the beginning. 🚢❄️🐧
