Crystal Sound (66°23′S 66°30′W) icebergs. Immense tabular masses drift at the mercy of currents and winds near the Antarctic Circle. If you pay attention to detail, you will observe the different parallel lines of ice deposits that make up the entire mass. Each of those lines is the result of hundreds of precipitated snow storms over hundreds of thousands of years. And if you stop your drift and think deeply, you will understand that we, simple humans, are but nothing compared to the times of the earth. Enjoy the ride.

Edinburgh Hill is a narrow point projecting 650 m from the east coast of Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica into McFarlane Strait and ending up in a conspicuous rocky hill of elevation 180 m. The point forms the northwest side of the entrance to Moon Bay. The area was visited by early 19th century sealers. This amazing basaltic columnar formation reminds me the Cathedral of Reykjavik: Hallgrímskirkja. Is a Lutheran (Church of Iceland) parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 74.5 metres (244 ft) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland and among the tallest structures in the country. Known for its distinctively curved spire and side wings.

Leopard Seal. Details of one of the apex predator in Antarctica. Designed by nature to be a living torpedo under the water. This amazing animal can swim super fast, turn in a second in a different direction never loosing any speed and of course if you are in a kayak… you feel the vibration of it under your boat through the plastic core. Best move on to an open ocean than stay on her territory…

Some chinstrap pengüins nesting in one of the South Shetland Islands. Most of them taking care of two eggs, but just the fifty per cent of them will survive at the end of the season. No matter what, both parents will do their best. Swapping three times per day to fish and wash their fedders.

Did you know that between 1901 and 1903, an Argentinean who was only 22 years old was part of the Swedish scientific expedition commanded by Nordenskjöld. Jose Maria Sobral, a young Argentine sailor with no previous experience in polar areas, without speaking the Swedish language, and with only 48 hours of prior preparation, left the port of Buenos Aires to make the first winter in Antarctica, their ship sank and they had to survive not one but two winters in terrible conditions. They survived and carried out a search for geological, meteorological and magnetic data that was later used by much less successful and better known expeditions such as Shackleton’s for example.
