🌉✈️ Study Tour 2024 – Next Stop: SAN FRANCISCO! 🌁📚

Our journey continued in vibrant San Francisco and the heart of Silicon Valley! 🚀 We had the incredible opportunity to visit Google Cloud and Meta, diving into the intersection of technology and tourism. 💻🌍 From there, we explored the scenic beauty of Napa Valley with a visit to Sterling Vineyards 🍇🍷, and discovered the rich history of Alcatraz, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and the bustling Piers. 🌉⚓

Lina Graf, the founder of the Innsbruck start-up .co, gave us extensive insights into the life of a female founder. Her start-up Femble and her story were so well received by the students that we turned it into a case study. Of course, there is also a video in which Lina explains the strategic direction and the move from Innsbruck to New York, among other things. The case study will be published soon. 🎥

Last week, a scholarship fund provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Research has been allocated to 34 applicants of the Tourism Program (Bachelor & Master). For this reason, we invited the awarded students to a small ceremony at MCI Tourism.
Congratulations to all of the students for their excellent performances in the last academic year!

MCI Tourism has recently become a new member of UN Tourism's INSTO network (World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The new TYSTO Tyrolean Sustainable Tourism Observatory will follow the Tirolean Path as the Tourism Strategy for Tyrol and implement a multi-dimensional measurement system together with the Provincial Government (Land Tirol), and the Federation of Tyrolean Tourism Associations (VTT). This week Birgit Bosio has attented the first Global INSTO Meeting in Mallorca for MCI Tourism presenting TYSTO as the first Austrian INSTO member.

Einige Impressionen von den gestrigen Tiroler Tourismusgesprächen der Raiffeisen Landesbank Tirol zum Thema "Künstliche Intelligenz in der Hotellerie. Was es gibt. Und was kommen wird.", bei dem das MCI als wissenschaftlicher Partner dabei sein konnte. Neben den Masterstudierenden des 1. Semesters (SMT) freut es uns besonders, dass am Podium unsere Alumi Kathrin John (Bayrisches Zentrum für Tourismusforschung) und Stefan Brida (Kohl & Partner) vertreten waren und "junge Perspektiven" zum Thema einbrachten!

🎉 Zusage für ein neues Forschungsprojekt! 🎉

Wir freuen uns, dass ein Projekt unter der Leitung von Monica Nadegger vom Tiroler Nachwuchsforscher*innenförderung des Landes Tirol genehmigt wurde! 🚀

In diesem Projekt fragen wir uns, welche neuen Wintersportformen und Geschäftsmodelle in ehemaligen Skigebieten entstehen und was wir daraus für die Zukunft des Wintertourismus lernen können.

Wir freuen uns auf viele Stunden im wohl schönsten, winterlichen Forschungsfeld, interessante Gespräche und spannende Erkenntnisse! ❄️🏔️
