Mozarthaus Vienna

Austrian Ecolabel -Green Museum

Mozarthaus Vienna, a museum of Wien Holding, has been awarded the prestigious Austrian Ecolabel end of January. This recognition honors the museum’s commitment to combining ecological responsibility and cultural heritage.

In the spirit of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart’s creative and visionary power, Mozarthaus Vienna pursues a sustainable philosophy: the museum relies on environmentally friendly measures such as the use of renewable energy sources, LED lighting and sustainable procurement. The ongoing digitalization, e.g. through paperless working and online tickets, further reduces the ecological footprint.

Visitors can experience sustainability - whether by actively promoting travel by public transport or barrier-free access, which promotes inclusion and diversity.

European Mozart Ways visit Mozart Week 2025
🎻 Concert Preview: Final Concert – February 2, 2025

The final concert of Mozart Week 2025 in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation will bring a brilliant finale with a truly diverse mix of works that honour Mozart, Bach, and Haydn—three giants of music history who are connected in different ways. The Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg will perform under the direction of Maestro Andreas Ottensamer.

Mozart’s Symphony in A Major, K. 201, will open the evening with its light, almost buoyant character. This will be followed by Bach’s Concerto for Two Pianos in C Major, BWV 1061, performed by two outstanding pianists, Ya-Fei Chuang and Robert Levin, promising an exciting musical dialogue between the pianos.

The overture from Haydn’s L’anima del filosofo, Hob. XXVIII:13, is a lesser-known work, but its clear, dramatic style provides a striking contrast to the other pieces. Mozart’s ballet music from Idomeneo, KV 367, then brings a touch of dance and movement to the evening, adding vibrancy to the concert.

The program is rounded off with Haydn’s Oxford Symphony, which concludes the concert with its magnificent structure and solemn moments.

Adding to the excitement, Rolando Villazón, who serves as the evening’s presenter, has already hinted at the plans for next year—a new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute to celebrate the 270th birthday of W.A. Mozart and 70 years of Mozartwoche Salzburg. With Villazón as director and Alberto González-Monjas as conductor, this production promises to bring a fresh and intriguing perspective to this legendary opera.

🎻 01.02.2025: Concert Preview III: Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Concert

The last of the Vienna Philharmonic's three concerts as part of Mozart Week 2025 will be conducted by Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv in the Großes Festspielhaus.

Oksana Lyniv is not only the first female conductor to perform at the Bayreuth Festival, but she is also the initiator of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, which was founded in 2016 and continues to perform actively today despite the war. The orchestra has been a Young Ambassador of the European Mozart Way since 2021.

For their third concert, the Vienna Philharmonic has put together a truly varied and fascinating program for Mozart Week 2025. The selection of Mozart's works is particularly exciting, featuring the Violin Concerto in D Major, with Rainer Honeck as concertmaster, and the Symphony in G Minor. Additionally, the program includes the suite from the opera Alcide by Bortniansky, an 18th-century Ukrainian-Russian composer whose operatic music, influenced by Italian and French styles, is rarely performed. Thankfully, Oksana Lyniv is bringing a composer from her homeland into the spotlight during this Mozart Week.

And then there is tenor Juan Diego Flórez, who is sure to create a special atmosphere with two arias from the opera La clemenza di Tito and a concert aria. George Frideric Handel's Water Music Suite No. 3 in G Major, HWV 350, will further enrich the evening’s Destination Mozart program.

Closer to Mozart than anywhere else in Salzburg.
Listen to Mozart’s works where he played them himself – is that possible?
Yes, it is possible: the Residenz in Salzburg is the place for which the prince-archbishop’s court musician composed his music and where he regularly performed.

✨ What Mozart’s music is to the ears, the state rooms are to the eyes – and both together represent a unique experience of space and sound that is second to none!

For all those who want to be close to the spirit of the master in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

🎶 Mozart Week 2025
📅 January 23 – February 2, 2025
📍 Salzburg, Austria

Destination Mozart is the motto that Festival Director Rolando Villazon has chosen for Mozart Week 2025 and links Wolfgang Amadé Mozart with the masters before his time who paved the way for him with their genius, who were his role models or inspiration. “Monteverdi, Bach and Mozart are three of these undisputed, everlasting and ingenious architects. Bach’s presence in Mozart’s work is unmistakable. The idea of bringing Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, one of the most impressive masterpieces in music history, to the Mozart Week stage was inspired by Nikolaus Harnoncourt’s book Der musikalische Dialog. For Mozart as a gifted opera composer cannot be understood without the ‚starting point‘ of Monteverdi, as Harnoncourt reminds us. All roads lead to Mozart - at Destination Mozart via Monteverdi, Handel, Bach, Haydn and many more!
