Jede Pirschfahrt ist einzigartig – und die Natur hält immer Überraschungen bereit.

So auch letzte Woche in der Ebene von Ndutu, wo die „Great Migration“ in vollem Gange ist. Inmitten tausender neugeborener Gnu-Kälber, die zwar das Land beleben, aber für Raubtiere willkommene Beute darstellen, überraschte uns das ungewöhnliche Verhalten eines Gepards 🐆.

Um einen besseren Überblick auf die weite Ebene zu gewinnen, sprang er auf das Ersatzrad eines unserer Safari-Fahrzeuge, suchte aufmerksam den Horizont ab und zog gleich weiter.

Ein atemberaubender Anblick – doch er wirft auch eine wichtige Frage auf: warum tun Geparden das? Experten vermuten, dass sie das Fahrzeug nicht als Bedrohung, sondern als Teil der Umgebung wahrnehmen und einfach als Aussichtswarte nutzen – ein Verhalten, das immer häufiger beobachtet wird. Doch die genauen Gründe bleiben wohl ein Geheimnis der Tiere.

So faszinierend es auch ist: Wildtiere sollen wild bleiben! 🌿 Verantwortungsvolles Guiding bedeutet, menschlichen Einfluss so gering wie möglich zu halten. Das ist ein Grundsatz, den wir bei Kidogo konsequent einhalten. Wir fördern ausserdem Maßnahmen, die den ursprünglichen Lebensraum der Wildtiere erhalten.Doch manchmal zeigen sie – wie „unser“ Gepard – unerwartetes Verhalten, das wir mit Staunen, Respekt und Zurückhaltung beobachten dürfen.

Begegnungen mit Geparden sind immer eine Besonderheit. Aber sie in den weiten Ebenen von Ndutu während der „Great Migration“ zu erleben – und noch dazu als Besucher auf einem Ersatzrad? Das ist wahrhaft unvergesslich! ✨

🦓 On this International Zebra Day, we’re highlighting the Grévy’s zebra - the most endangered zebra species. With fewer than 3,000 left in the wild, these stunning animals, known for their slender stripes and rounded ears, are facing threats from habitat loss and competition with livestock.

🇬🇧 “In the past 10 days, we enjoyed a fantastic safari with an excellent, competent, and caring guide, who took us to Ngorongoro as well as to Serengeti. The variety and amount of wild animals was mind-blowing, but also nature - the trees, bushes, flowers, hills, forests, lakes, etc. - was extremely beautiful. We learned a lot about the country and its nature. Highlights included elephants, a rhino, hundreds of hippos, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetah, buffalos, crocodiles, all sorts of gazelles, and beautiful birds, often directly next to our car. Lodges were very nice, well-kept, with delicious food and extremely nice staff. We can highly recommend the entire trip and Kidogo as an organiser. Thank you!!”
