SNORKELLING THE AQUARIUM IN YALLINGUP⁠
This is a great protected snorkelling spot in with super clear water. When we went last week we saw a beautiful octopus sheltering under a rock and a variety of fish. Since we’ve last been here, sections of the paths have been upgraded (Photo 2) making it an easy 10 minute walk from Kathleen’s Seat car park . ⁠
⁠
Here’s some tips for getting to and enjoying the aquarium.⁠
* The car park is located on Canal Rocks road, just before Canal Rocks. It’s the spot where lots of cars are parked on the side of the road as this is a very popular snorkelling spot in summer.⁠
* Get there early as it can get super crowded from 9.30 onwards.⁠
* Take time to stop halfway at the viewing platform called Kathleen’s seat. The views are amazing (Photo 4) and it would be a good sunset spot too. ⁠
* After the viewpoint the path deteriorates at some sections so closed footwear is best and not white sneakers as the sand is black in some sections. (Photos 5 & 6)⁠
* At the beach there are no toilets or bins and the sand has a lot of shells, so it might pay to bring reef shoes as we did to help you enter the water.⁠
* On the ocean side of the pool there are lots of rocks to climb and explore and this is a better vantage point for taking photos too.⁠
*If you are after more of an adventurous snorkelling experience then this spot is perhaps not for you. Our favourite spot to snorkel is the quarry in Augusta, but this one is definitely for early risers (7.00am is best) as the wind can ruin visibility later in the morning.

SNORKELLING BUSSELTON JETTY SCULPTURES⁠
This is an AWESOME experience in ... We have done this many times... And each time we discover more tips to make it a next level experience..⁠ conduct dive and snorkelling tours of the Busselton Jetty Sculptures. ⁠
1. Early morning works best for us. The sea is calmer and the sunlight hits the Eastern side of the jetty... The depth is around 20 to 30 feet.⁠
2. When you jump in from the landing you will see the helmet sculpture directly in front of you.. Most of the sculptures are very close to the jetty pylons so don't make the mistake we did on our first snorkel and swim out wide - stay close to the jetty pylons. You can even snorkel through the pylons. Many of the sculptures are under the jetty or very close to the side of it. ⁠
3. As you snorkel out to the end of the jetty you will need to swim out wide to avoid swimming near the observatory windows. There are signs saying you can't enter this section.⁠
4. Nearing the end of the jetty, make sure you snorkel around the end as each time we have done this there are thousands of tiny fish, and when the sunlight hits them they are MAGIC!!⁠
5. As you turn to snorkel back on the other side of the jetty you will see the whale sculpture sitting on the bottom. If you can dive down a little you will see so many fish sheltering in the body. ⁠
6. Passing the whale, look up and you will see one of the sculptures shining - this is the mermaid sculpture and she is so beautiful.⁠
7. On your way back take the time to stop and look at the beautiful corals on the pylons. If you really look you can see all sorts of tiny sea creatures hiding amongst the coral. ⁠

Front deck hangs. Just you and a thousand trees. From December onwards the tree trunks change colour as they prepare to shed their outer bark. Think a kaleidoscope of pinks, oranges and greens. It's awesome to witness this change and the front deck of the chalets is centre stage to this amazing show of nature.

Tree Story | From 30cm high saplings to towering trees | Here's a little timeline snapshot of our family's tree story | ⁠
2008 - Planting 6000 trees by hand using a Pottiputki planting stick NOTE: kids are kind of helping but mainly eating the chocolate brownies and grandmas mandarines⁠
2009 - Young trees are about 3 foot high and growing well⁠
2010 - Trees are over 2 metres tall. We start selecting the trees to keep and trimming their lower branches off (Boys have chosen 'their' favourite tree)⁠
2012 - Trees are too tall to trim off the ground. For the next 4 years we will trim by hand from a cherry picker. (Andrews shoulders were 😫)⁠
2016 - Trees are 8 years old and have their final thinning. We choose the strongest, straightest and tallest trees to keep. (The idea is to have an 8M radius between tree trunks but we fail miserably at this as we love our trees)⁠
2019 - Tree Chalets opens⁠
2024 - Our trees today. The plantation has evolved into a stunning vista | All for the enjoyment of our chalet guests. ⁠
