The journey from Narrandera to Coolamon showcased the town's hospitality and historical sites, including the Up To Date Store and the unique Lamson Ball Cash Railway System. Highlights included the Mavis Furner crochet collection and a visit to the Coolamon Cheese Company. The trip continued to Junee, enjoying its chocolate factory and scenic views.

“Listen very carefully, I shall only say this once”

“Well, in that case, could you please speak slowly”

😂😂😂😂 Who used to watch Allo Allo?

These Australian Water Dragons were very funny to watch. They were quite aggressive to each other.
I have no idea how long they were sitting under our table 🫣😬😂

Our latest road trip took us to Brisbane. Like always we only ever have really loose plans and generally just have a destination in mind. It is always made up as we go along.

Our camp sites were a mixture of free, paid and low cost:

🔹Bruce’s Bend, Mildura
🔹Mamanga Campground, Yanga NP
🔹Brewery Flat, Narraranda
🔹Ex-Serviceman’s Club, Junee
🔹Wheogo Park Rest Area, Forbes
🔹Blizzardfield Private Campground, Dubbo
🔹Shanty on Namoi, Narrabri
🔹Kumbarilla Rest Area, Moonie Highway
🔹Stayed with family in Mooloolah
🔹Dicky Beach Caravan Park
🔹Stayed with family in Brisbane
🔹Mullumbimby Showgrounds
🔹Behind the Hedge, Tenterfield
🔹Bramwell, (HipCamp), Armidale
🔹Paceway, Old Showgrounds, Tamworth
🔹Blizzardfield Private Campground, Dubbo
🔹Cooinda Rest Area, Wyalong
🔹Sandy Point Reserve, Hay
🔹Walpeup Wayside Stop

We travelled a total of 4,716km and averaged around 16.5l/100km, over 39 days.

Our favourite camp was Shanty on Namoi until it rained 🌧️🌬️😂

Our most peaceful camp was Behind the Hedge.

Our best sunset camp was Bramwell.

Our best Farmers Market was at Mullumbimby.

Our favourite town with the friendliest people was Coolamon.

Our best free camp was Kumbarilla Rest Area.

Our biggest challenge was “Crossing the Great Dividing Range”

We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of silo art we saw. This will be another trip soon 🤔

Keep a lookout for our blog on the website. We would love it if you popped onto the website and gave us a follow 👍

We were not expecting to see so much on our trip this time, so we were pleasantly surprised.

This one is found in and it depicts a town who overcame all the odds with finding water. This town does not have any above ground water.

The original farmers had to clear the dense mallee trees by hand and muscle power to access the underground water.

Such a beautiful town and once again we arrived on a Sunday, so everything was closed and could not experience their hospitality. Next time!

Walpeup Wayside Stop is a community park. For $10/night you get Power, untreated water, BBQ’s Picnic Tables and flushing toilets.

If you don’t need power, then it is only $9/night.

For an extra fee there are hot showers and a washing machine.

Such a great initiative provided by the community.

There is a honesty box over by the toilets for your money.

The silo art is just across the road plus there is a community garden to explore.

The shops were closed on a Sunday when we arrived. So be sure to arrive during the week to experience their hospitality.

Silo Art - Walpeup, Victoria.

This artwork is absolutely powerful and impressive.

It was inspired by World War One Light Horseman Harold Thomas Bell.

I did some research on the AWM website and was so saddened to read about what he endured.

He was in the 4th Australian Light Horse Regiment and was a farmer from Walpeup, Victoria. Sadly he received gunshot wounds during the charge against Beersheba on 31 October 1917 and died of his wounds.

He was only 16 years and 7 months old.

🌉 🌉🌉
Following on from my post yesterday. If you said Tooleybuc over Murray River, you would be correct.

The Tooleybuc Bridge is a single lane timber Allan Truss and steel lift span bridge and connects Victoria and NSW over the Murray River.

There are only two surviving Murray River bridges with Allan truss spans that are designed to lift, the other is in Swan Hill, Victoria.

This bridge was built in 1925 and thankfully, it was added to the New South Wales Heritage Register in 2000 and the Victorian Heritage Register in 2008.

According to the Transport NSW website, they undertook a review of the bridge for safety concerns. Luckily, during that review it was concluded to be a good example of the timber Allan truss and steel lift span bridge and has the ability to be upgraded for the future. They are currently investigating ways to strengthen the current bridge to allow larger vehicles to cross over at this point. Currently vehicles over 4.1 meters in height will have to detour to the Swan Hill Bridge.

Can anyone guess where this awesome bridge is and which river it is crossing?

The town that went to war 🫶

Last night we stayed in Hay, NSW at the Sandy Point Primitive Camping Reserve.

A very large area with loads of big beautiful red river gum trees.

Right on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.

The town of Hay has really gone all out to make this a great place to relax.

The silo art is a short walk away and after reading the placards about the gentlemen who are painted on them, it really brings home what horrors they went through 😒

Do you ever pull up to place and think “that looks pretty flat” only to find out you roll out of bed in the night or the drawers keep closing whilst getting things in and out?

🙋🏼‍♀️🙋

Over the years we have done line of sight or the spirit level. We even stuck those little spirit levels to the frame only to find out when you pull up that it had fallen off somewhere down the track 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Chris has found a product that he is super happy with. It’s called

A little electronic device is attached to your caravan or camper trailer and then that displays on your phone via the app. Once you have your initial set up correct, you are good to go.

It will tell you when you are level without leaving the drivers seat.

You can also set the hitch height ready for departure. It has been a game changer for us.

When on the road, we travel with a Breville Baby Bambino Plus coffee machine and a Breville grinder. They both work great with our inverter.

I have a cappuccino and Chris enjoys a Chai Latte.

There is nothing better when on the back roads having freshly ground coffee ☕️
