Happy 2nd birthday to Ketambe, Marni and Susu! 🎉🐯
Celebrating these three Sumatran Tigers today, born to mum Delilah and dad Kembali at Adelaide Zoo in 2022 they've been delighting staff, volunteers and visitors ever since! Today they got this special enrichment filled with meaty treats to enjoy.
With only 400 Sumatran Tigers estimated to be left in the wild, each tiger is intrinsically valuable for the species’ survival. Delilah and Kembali’s three cubs show the real impact Zoos SA is making in the regional breeding program to safeguard this critically endangered species.
Settling in to Adelaide life! 🐼🐼
Keepers shared this great video of Yi Lan relaxing in the cool of her air-conditioned room and munching on some tasty bamboo treats.
Both pandas have loved exploring their back of house space, including Yi Lan who has started to show her cheeky, playful personality. Meanwhile Xing Qiu has been super relaxed and is making the most of his plentiful SA-grown bamboo snacks!
We’ll make sure you have your paw on the pulse with all things Giant Panda throughout their short stay off habitat. 🐾
Beating the heat, Sea Lion style! ☀️

Amazing news from Marna Banggara! ✨
Locally extinct for more than a century, the population of Brush-tailed Bettongs released on Yorke Peninsula as part of the rewilding project is growing!
Out of the 83 bettongs monitored last month by a team including Zoos SA staff, 31 were new animals born on Yorke Peninsula and 22 out of the 26 females were carrying pouch young!
"It's such a positive sign to not only have yalgiri from all translocations surviving, but to find adults that were born in Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park,” Zoos SA Conservation Ecologist, Paul Kotz said.
“It really highlights that the work done by the team - they have done a fantastic job."
The Marna Banggara project is jointly funded by the Australian Government Natural Heritage Trust and the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, a member of the Commonwealth Regional Delivery Partners panel.

Unlike Giant Pandas who feast on nearly all parts of a bamboo culm, Red Pandas snack on the nutritious leaf tips and bamboo shoots alongside vegetables and fruit.

Farewell Wang Wang and Fu Ni. 🐼🐼❤️
Early this morning, Adelaide Zoo officially waved a paw goodbye to the Giant Pandas who have called Adelaide home for over 15 years.
The black-and-white duo were resting as they left Adelaide Zoo in the early hours of this morning travelling through the city to Adelaide Airport.
Travelling in specially-designed crates, which ensure they are comfortable and safe during their flight, a keeper and vet from Adelaide Zoo along with a panda specialist vet from China are accompanying the pair on the plane to make sure they have everything they need – including in-flight bamboo snacks!
“It has been an emotional week for so many of our zoo family; from the keepers who have worked so closely with Wang Wang and Fu Ni to our volunteers, staff and panda-lovers from the public,” Director of Adelaide Zoo, Dr Phil Ainsley, said.
“We are very excited to meet Yi Lan and Xing Qiu later this year, but we are never going to forget Wang Wang and Fu Ni. They will hold a special place in the hearts of many for years to come.”
Zoos SA will provide an update on Wang Wang and Fu Ni once they have acclimatised to their new habitat.
We look forward to sharing more black-and-white news with the community as the next chapter of the zoo’s panda journey begins.
