We're thrilled to introduce our store manager, Annemarie, who pours her heart and soul into Semaphore, making it her pride and joy! With her immense expertise, we're truly fortunate to have such a dedicated leader.

1. How long have you worked in the travel industry/with PHT?
Growing up in Europe (Germany) and having had family members in the travel industry meant travelling the world from a very young age.
My passion for travel grew rapidly and after relocating to Australia, I studied Tourism and started my travel career with Phil Hoffmann Travel in 2007.
I had a brief break (maternity leave) to have my gorgeous little boy Kai (aka Dinosaur fanatic) and am back onboard working Monday – Thursday.
Time flies, when you love what you do - I have been with my PHT family for a total of 17 years.
2. Favourite holiday destination?
This is a tough one! I have so many favorites, from visually stunning Canada & Alaska, the impressive Norwegian Fjords to the culturally immersing and mesmerizing landscapes of Africa and everything in between.
I also love a cruise holiday, it’s a great way to experience a destination.
3. Bucket list destination?
Another tough question! Top of the list would be India followed closely by an expedition voyage to Antarctica. However, for now I am focused on enjoying some family friendly holidays with my little boy. Next up, is a Disney Cruise Vacation in November.
4. Favourite thing about working at PHT?
Woohoo ! This is an easy one. We are one big extended family of passionate individuals, working together to create ultimate dream holidays for our clients.

Mark grew up in Texas, lived in Japan and previously worked at the City store before moving down here to Semaphore.

1. How long have you worked in the travel industry/with PHT?
18 years - 2+ years in Dallas, 8 years at STA Travel, 8 years so far at PHT.
2. Favourite holiday destination?
Serengeti safari in Tanzania - Seeing wild animals in their natural habitat was an amazing experience! So far, it’s my only trip to Africa and I’d love to go again!!
Also, Japan, as I lived there for 7 years prior to Australia.
3. Bucket list destination ?
- Extensive tour of South America especially Argentina, Brazil, and Chile
- Safari and all of South Africa
- Egypt
4. Top travel tip?
If you like watching movies/entertainment on long haul flights, look at the airline’s websites to see what is showing when your flight will be happening. (Usually 2-3 days before you travel.) If there is nothing of interest, you have plenty of time to load streaming movies to your device before you leave home (Netflix, Binge, etc.)
5. Favourite thing about working at PHT?
Office camaraderie

Next up, we are happy to introduce our Assistant Manager Erin!
Erin previously worked at our Glenelg office before having a gorgeous little boy since Covid and has since graced us with her presence down here at Semaphore! 😄

1. How long have you worked in the travel industry/with PHT?
13 years in the industry and PHT, previous life 3 years in tourism before switching to travel.

2. Favourite holiday destination
Hard to pick just one destination but Vietnam has to be my MOST favourite. Beautiful scenery, rich history, unique culture, friendly and welcoming people, delicious cuisine – Vietnam has it all!

3. Bucket list destination
Top of the list would have to be, The Galapagos to experience the natural landscape unlike anywhere else in the world and to see the weird and wonderful wildlife and the Amazon to learn more about the indigenous tribes and their culture and for the wildlife. I would love to experience fishing for piranha on the Amazon river.

4. Top travel tip
Travel with an open mind, Immerse yourself in the destination you are travelling to. Eat with the locals, taste the local delicacy/specialty and adventure off the tourist track (as long as you are safe). Trust in destination specialists, they know the places inside out, it might cost a little more, but you can rest assured that you will have received some of the best advice and guidance.

5. Favourite thing about working at PHT
I love working for a respected and well known South Australian travel company. Travel is well and truly back and so we thought it was time to re-introduce you to our current PHT Semaphore Team.
First up we have one of our senior consultants Rosy Glisson.

1. How long have you worked in the travel industry/with PHT?
- I have been in the industry for 17 years/with PHT 5 years.

2. Favourite holiday destination
- I have lots of favorite holiday destinations, however Italy has to be number one.

3. Bucket list destination
- Has to be Antarctica and the Amazon.

4. Top travel tip
- Air tags have become really important since travel commenced after Covid. This is the only way to track your bag if the airlines lose it/misplace it.

5. Favorite thing about working at PHT
- It’s definitely a very family oriented business who very much care about their staff.

#4 - Poland

FACT: The humble but delicious bagel was invented in this European country. It's not known exactly when, but it appears to date to at least 1610 and possibly as far back as the 1300s.

MOVIE: Schindler's List (2003), starring Liam Neeson. A lot of this film was shot at Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp which you can visit on a day trip from Krakow. Auschwitz concentration camp was a complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps operated by N**i Germany in occupied Poland during World War II and the Holocaust.

#3 - Mauritius

Mark Twain once wrote that 'Mauritius was made first and then heaven, heaven being copied after Mauritius'

FACT: The only known habitat of the dodo bird was on this African island nation.

DON'T MISS: The Monday Market (Foire de Mahébourg). Located near the waterfront, the initial focus was silks and other textiles, but these days you'll find a busy produce section, tacky bric-a-brac and steaming food stalls. It's the perfect place to try some local snacks - gâteaux piments (chilli cakes), dhal puri (lentil pancakes) and samousas
(samosas) - usually dispensed from boxes on the backs of motorcycles. The market is open every day but doubles in size on Monday.

FACT: Schönbrunn Zoo, The world's first zoo, founded in 1752, is still in operation in Vienna.

MOVIE: The Sound of Music (1965), starring Julie Andrews. See some of the sights from the classic film, as well as the Mirabell Palace and the birthplace of Mozart in Salzburg from your Amsterdam to Budapest River Cruise.

#1 - Fiji

FACT: Firewalking on hot stones is an ancient tradition that started in this South Pacific island nation. It's even believed that descendants of the first man to do so can still walk on white-hot stones.

MOVIE: Castaway (2000), starring Tom Hanks
The small, remote island on which 'Castaway' was filmed is open for day tours, and it looks exactly like it did when Tom Hanks called it home.

Some of you may be surprised to know that Fiji is currently open to Aussie visitors and the requirements to get there won't make you feel like you need another holiday when you get home!
