Just a follow-up from my last one. To celebrate the recent International Grenache Day 2024, we think it will be a shame not mentioning Charles Melton's contribution to this industry. In 1988, Charlie Melton set the stage for a new chapter in Australian wine by experimenting with blends inspired by the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the southern Rhône. In the Barossa Valley, he combined Grenache with Shiraz and Mourvèdre, giving birth to the first reboot of the now-famous GSM blend. We hope everyone has a great International Grenache Day of 2024 and a wonderful week.
Ps: For us the simple pairings with Grenache are barbecued chops and sausages, pizza or hamburger since Grenache has juicy red-flavours with modest tannins. Bolder styles like the Charles Melton's Nine Popes cry out for a rare steak or a few years in the cellar.
