Well, our journey is almost done. One more sea day and then it's the long trek to home. We have seen and experienced so much and for that I am very grateful. Our planet is amazing, full of unique sights and sounds and it is so worthwhile taking care of. Travel if you can, no matter how far because it is good for your soul.

After 2 days at sea we have arrived at Kirkwall, Orkney Islands. You will understand why I hear Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights as we wander through this rugged, unforgiving , hauntingly beautiful landscape. Dry stone walls a plenty. Cold but so worth the visit

A little island off the coast the of Iceland, Heimaey is a delightful surprise on this cruise. The weather is unbelievable today. The only thing missing is the sighting of puffins but that's okay, I know they are out there. Check the little house on another neighbouring island. The only house!

Arkureyri, Iceland. We had a great window of good weather to see the Godafos waterfall and then it snowed and snowed. Scenery is magical. I am expecting Vikings to appear any minute now!

Now on board Niew Statendam having sailed from Copenhagen. Today we visited Oslo, Norway's capital. Visited the Vigeland Sculpture Park, Maritime Museum and the Kon Tiki !

Hello Copenhagen! What a fabulous surprise you are. Such friendly, polite and helpful people. After a horrendous day handling so much luggage this was just what was needed. When will I learn? We board Niew Statendam on Saturday, bound for Iceland, if it's still there !!

And that's a wrap. Tonight the gang fly home. Farewell my lovely friends. We had the best time with so many funny moments and some not so funny like getting to Charles de Gaulle on the train. Last stop for our group is Paris. It is a bit chaotic here, as they get ready for the Olympic Games but we had a wonderful crazy night in a convoy of 2cvs with an eclectic bunch of Frenchmen. Merci Mark and all the guys! You have been a highlight of the trip!

Rome today. Enjoyed beautiful weather but not the crowds. Caught a glimpse of the Vatican which was heaving with people. Castel Sant Angelo and Piazza del Popolo. 2 Aperol spritz and one lemon sorbet = 68 Euro ! That's what you pay if you want a seat in the only shady spot. Ugh!!!
