This is a fabulous centre that we use and take full advantage of in our accomodation business ! Makes great ecological sense to reuse the leaves and cuttings of our gardens to produce more green foliage in our city ! Buxton Manor had contributed greatly in this way !

Did you know the City of Adelaide operates a green waste and mulch centre in North Adelaide?

More than 1,200 people a month use this service, which opened in 1996. Green waste is recycled into a variety of mulches and compost that you can buy for your garden!

Mulch keeps our plants cool, happy, and nutrient-rich, especially during the heat Adelaide has been experiencing lately. Our horticulture team even uses the mulch in the Park Lands!

Just on 100 years old and just less than 100 metres away from our World Famous Fire Station Inn ! What a combination !

⏳Did you know that Perryman’s turns 100 years old in 2025? After all these years, we think it is amazing that the most popular order we get is for some of our oldest products. “Lunchtime pie and a pasty thanks” must have been uttered in our little shopfront hundreds of times a week now for many decades. It’s lovely to be a part of history like that!

Flashback Friday: Houses – Lefevre Terrace

These three pairs of houses were a major speculative residential development carried out during the mid-1880s by Adelaide jeweller Henry Steiner. Steiner was known for having crafted the mayoral badge and chain presented to the City Corporation in 1882.

The group were deliberately pitched to attract wealthy and prominent tenants to one of the main upper-class residential streets in North Adelaide. Early tenants, Ralph Raphael and Vinrace Lawrence, were both prominent men in city financial circles.

The design of the three pairs of houses is attributed to Joseph English, son of architect Thomas English.

Two collectable 100 + years old Laundry Washing Boards that we are now displayed in the well equiped Laundry at Buxton Manor , available to all guests staying ! The left hand one is the only one of its type we have ever seen and we were major antiques dealers for thirty years specialising in Australian colonial furniture & collectables from 1850-1920 in South Australia !
