WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE many people worried about the current coronavirus pandemic, and want to know what things are like here in Airlie Beach.
Well, we thought it might be best to explain what´s going on from the perspective of those of us who live and work here and deliver just the facts without the misinformation that seems to follow the media coverage of this disease.
The coronavirus 2019 pandemic is an ongoing situation, and things can change, but right now business in our beautiful part of the world continues very much as usual, with just one exception that might be visible to visitors, like the shortage of toilet paper at Woolworths, Coles, IGA.🤣
local businesses, shops, restaurants, and bars are open and trading as usual. Tourists and Backpackers still visiting and spending thier days lazing by the lagoon socialising taking in the sunshine or doing day tours.
We do not have food shortages in Airlie Beach, or shortages of doctors, medical supplies or daily essentials.
Airlie Beach registers 0 positive CoVid-19 infections and zero deaths. And, we think it will stay that way for the unforeseeable future.
The vast majority of people with a positive diagnosis for coronavirus are located in the capital cities such as Sydney, Melbourne.
Proserpine Hospital remains free of coronavirus infection. Doctors Surgeries are working as normal with no sign of the Virus.
Proserpine Airport continues to operate scheduled flights from all domestic destinations.
Of course, we all have our part to play in stopping the transmission, and some large events and scheduled public gatherings may have to be cancelled or postponed. But none are scheduled as yet. Everything is go, go, go.
